Our little town of Muscle Shoals, Alabama is all a buzz right now because of today's announcement that a company called DreamVision is building a 1,400 acre $3.5 billion theme park in Muscle Shoals. The company has announced plans to build an even larger park near Fort Worth. To me it seems like an elaborate scam, but they have Disney Legend Ron Logan as the Chief Creative Officer overseeing the project. Here is a link to their press page: http://www.thedreamvisioncompany.com/press/

I am curious about what others knowledgeable about theme parks think.

I grew up in Florence, AL so wanted to reply. I thought it sounded crazy when I first heard about it. After reading about the press conference and everything yesterday, I would have to agree with you about it sounds like an elaborate scam. Kind of makes me say I'll believe it when I see it, haha. But we shall see....

As long as Dollywood and Branson, MO continue to exist and thrive, I can't discount any possibilities. :p

I've been following this story for a while, since they moved their HQ to Ft. Worth and announced the project initially (eith a big concert and fireworks show) then nothing for a long time and now another press conference with all these announcements...it all sounds really fishy to me also...I wouldn't go as far to say scam in the traditional manner (like the guy on trial in Dallas who was selling land based on Disney opening a park there)...if you try to investigate the company there is very little information on them (especially for a compnay claiming to be the next Pixar) and the theme parks they are planning seem really pie-in-the-sky ideas with cool concept art but with little else in place (if you look at the art for the Ft. Worth park they actaully have a Wonka's building in their "Candyland" section but I've seen nothing to show that there is any type of offical partnership with Nestle, who own the brand...seems like that would be a big selling point)

We are also tracking this since DW is from the area (Haleyville). If this were true it would change the shoals area forever. What is fishy to us is there was no coordination with the state development office or local officials. Also, they announced that the Alabama Music Hall of Fame would be relocated to this theme park. The people at the hall of fame basically said it was news to them. That raised a red flag with both of us.

I have only learned of these proposed parks from this posting. After a fairly thorough study of available public information I say the following: Don't get your hopes up. A visit to the website http://dreamvisionsoundscape.com/ says to stay tuned for events on Feb 9 and Feb 11. Those dates have passed and there is no update to the site. Also the web address http://dreamvisionmountain.com/ is still available. If there were any real plans this would have been secured prior to using this name in press. One particularly well written and informative resource can be found here http://www.westcoaster.net/2015/02/18/dreamvision-fiasco-part-2/#comment-3499
