Disney Land with 2.5 Year old twins!

Wow.. so happy to find this forum. We are going to visit my brother (he lives in La Verne, CA), and plan on going to WDL for 1 or 2 days. Where do I start? My twins (boy/girl) will be 28 months then (April 17th-22nd). Is it worth going? I assume they will be too small for rides, any links or suggestions on what we can do there? I assume a double side by side stroller is ok? Or maybe 2 single ones? I'll be there with my husband, mother, father, and possibly my brother and his wife.

I don't have kids but have traveled with parents and small kids. First yes it can be very worth going if you travel smart. Don't push to get everything done and try to find some down time. The pictures and memories alone for you will well be worth it and the kids are free

Actually there are a lot of rides the kids can do. Anything without a height restriction is open to you. Some might be a bit scary, but at their age they might be fine. You can do all of Fantasyland (though most parents will steer you clear of Snow Whites SCARY adventure) Casey's Train is supposed to be a huge hit with the kid set! Pirate's Lair is the island that is fun to run off some little one energy. POTC and HM are both available to kids to ride too.

And if the parents want some ride time DLR also offers child swap so one adult can ride and watch the kids and then swap so the other can ride.

DCA also has a lot to offer kids of all ages if you get park hoppers (super easy to do since you only have about a 2 minute walk from the entrance of each park to the other).

Yes you can use a double stroller, if that is the easiest for you.

I took DD for the first time when she was 2 and a half and she had a blast! I think Fairycat covered just about everything. Scheduling nap time is important unless they'll sleep in strollers. Other than that you'll all have a super-dee-dooper time!!!!!

You're going to have a blast (and so are they)!

I go frequently with my 2.5yo (he'll be 3 in June), and we go on a lot of rides. The only ride he's been on with a height minimum is Gadget's Go Coaster, which is a 35" minimum, but he LOVES it. He laughs the whole time.

I took him on POTC for the first time last week and he thought it was great. He even likes Haunted Mansion.

The only ride he hasn't liked so far was Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin, which was too jerky for him. He wasn't thrilled with Mr. Toad's Wild Ride either.

We haven't tried the Jungle Cruise yet but it is on our itinerary for Thursday.

DS and I typically spend a whole day there and he doesn't nap in his stroller. I change him into his jammies before we get in the car to come home, and he falls asleep before we get on the freeway and then I can just put him to bed when we get home.

I think there was another thread recently about taking your toddler, I'll see if I can find it and link for you.

Hi to another twin mommy!

I took my boys last year when they were 14 months old and I'll be taking them again this year at 26 months old We had a blast last time! They rode all the kiddy rides, even Pirates and Haunted Mansion! Only thing they were scared of was the carousel LOL Go figure! One of their favorite things was the parades! They LOVED watching the parades!

I can't wait to go back this year! Not sure what they will think of the characters, but we've been watching alot of Disney channel to get them hyped up LOL

Heres a heads up: they will want to do Buzz Lightyear again and again and again!! I can't keep my nearly 3 year old away from that ride. Oh, and once you exit this ride, stay to the right in the walkway to avoid being dumped into the Buzz gift shop...... which means you'll avoid having to buy two of those horribly annoying Buzz guns! One is bad enough but two will push you over the edge!

Or do what I do and stand firm on age recommendations. The COOL Buzz gun is for 5 and up, and DS is quite aware he's not 5!



The other area your kids will likely love is "bug's land" in DCA (California Adventure, the "other" park). I love that area, too. Heimlich's Chew Chew Train is the best for just chilling out, being spritzed by watermelon water, and sniffing animal crackers. And hearing big burps. (go on the ride you'll understand)


Our first trip was when DS was almost 1.5, second when he was almost 2.5, then nearing 3.5, then definitely 3.5, and soon we're going for his 4th birthday! I have trip reports for them all (er, the ones we've taken so far) in my signature; the first two are included in the Paradise Pier/HoJo report. If you read them, I hope they are helpful!

My sister just got back from Disney land with her 2.5 boy/girl twins. They had a great time. The twins loved Buzz Lightyear ride at Walt Disney World but hated it at Disneyland for some odd reason. They did love the train and the storybook ride. Make sure they get their naps in. My niece and nephew slept in their strollers.

Hi there. It's nice to new folks like me.

My twin boys are now 11. Wow how fast time goes. Anyway, we've racked up hundreds of visits to DL over the years. And I've had a good time with every single trip.

There's not much else to add to the other's advice, but I did want to mention this one thing...

After 10 years of taking our boys, the DL memories that stand out most in my mind as I look back are the silly things that seemed kinda trivial (or even annoying) when they were actually happening. Stuff like:
- Feeding bread crumbs to the ducks in front of the castle
- Feeding popcorn to the little minnows in the stream at the back of Tiki Room
- The time it rained like crazy and we all got drenched
- The time one wondered off and got lost for 1/2 hour
- The time we got stuck and had to listen to "zip a dee doo dah" for 20 mins
etc.

Anyway, all I'm saying is that the stuff that doesn't seem like a highlight of your trip, might just turn out to be one of your best memories of it.

I just got back from DLR with my dd 20 months and 4. My youngest had more fun than the oldest I think. She loved just watching everything and LOVED the winnie the pooh ride and the parade was also a hit.

There are so many rides for them to go on, Peter Pan, Tea Cups, Dumbo, Alice in Wonderland, a few in toon town, the Monster's Ride in California Adventure, and the Bugs' Land. My youngest only had one ride in Bugs land she had to sit out, the rest she went on, and LOVED! She would sit and go "wheeee"

The only problem I had at the park, was I only found two different toddler meals, one was mac and cheese, the other chicken rice, neither of which were big hits with my youngest. That was my only complaint. If you are going to be near by, I say go for it!

Forgot to mention strollers ;-)

When they didn't walk, we liked using one double stroller.

But as they got older and walked a lot on their own, it became easier with two lightweight umbrella strollers. With umbrella strollers we had to bring along a backpack diaperbag 'cause there's no room for all the stuff.

Thanks again everyone.. maybe I'll even fly with our double travel stroller.. I hate that thing so if it gets messed up, I have no problem with it, maybe it'll even get lost and I can buy a new one. I usually use carseats with those pull things in the airport instead of strollers.

We just got back from a trip with our 2.5 year old son and he had a wonderful time. He loved the characters especially, and had to hug all of them. Mickey and Goofy were his absolute favorites.

We rode Dumbo (repeatedly), Winnie the Pooh (a favorite), Alice in Wonderland, the teacups, Hanuted Mansion and Pirates with him, as well as the Circus train and few others I am forgetting. My husband and I took turns on the rides he was too short for, but didn't use the swap because the lines were so short while we there. We also did Bug's Land in DCA and he went nuts. There's a water play area that we could barely get him out of, he had so much fun. He also loved the rides they had there. The whole Bug's Land area is prefect for little ones.

My best tip is make sure that you leave the parks and let them nap when they are tired. Our son did much better in the early mornings and evenings after a solid nap.

LOL about the Buzz guns. Our ever so kind friends were kind enough to bring those back from their last trip so we already have them!
