I have heard a couple of references to Disney Kitties. I have been to the parks numerous times and never seen any cats wandering around. Are there really some who live in the parks? Are they fed by cast members or do they just eat what they find around? Cats normally go for mice which just seems wrong in that place but....maybe necessary? Can someone please enlighten me?

Thanks!

Yes, there are cats at DL and DCA.

I always see the kitties in the rocks above the McDonald's french fry wagon, across from BTMRR. They are easy to miss unless you know about them and are looking for them.

I'm assuming they are opportunistic and rely on handouts, but I really don't know if Disney feeds them or not.:confused3

There was a thread in the last few days that had a few pictures of the kitties found around the park. The cutest one I thought was the one that was in Storybook Canal next to on of the little miniature towns, it looked like it was being taken over by a giant cat!

I have only seen 1, at the Hungry Bear Resturant. It was just walking around the dining room, not really bothering anyone.

Now that I know they are there I'm sure I will see more of them. I have seen a couple of mice as well.

I've seen them all over DL, but having done lots of cat rescue I'm very aware of little movements and am always on the lookout. Last week I saw one come out of the bushes and sit on the Autopia track. I've also seen one sleeping on the old Skyway building in Fantasyland, near the Paradise Pier Hotel and two of the cutest kittens on the track at Heimlich's Chew Chew Train. Disney workers do feed them, though I'm not sure if it's officially or not. I've seen plates of food hidden in the bushes. They pretty much stay out of sight so you really have to be on the lookout.

I also usually see them near the Hungry Bear restaurant, or by the bathrooms underneath the restaurant. They are very cute!

In California Adventure they are at the end of the ice cream train, soarin side. There is a little ditch with rocks and we always see at least 2. We always look when we pass, it has become tradition.

I saw one during our last visit to DCA, it was near the bridge you cross over to get to the food court.

There are countless cats that claim Disneyland as their home. They are not fed by cast members. They eat whatever they can find. You will note from the above replies that they are usually spotted hiding under / in / between things near food locations. I would not pet one if you saw one. They are wild (i.e. no shots, not pets).

:lmao: :rotfl: :lmao: Now THAT was funny! Thank you for a much needed laugh!

P.S. When I read the title of your post I thought this was going to be a thread about Aristocats and other "Disney kitties." haha!

I have heard they are fed regularly and that they trap and release (vaccinate spay and neuter). Some are more tame than others and obviously some elude the traps...anyone who has trapped knows that there are some that are just smarter than the trap. Apparently there were many found when opening up the castle years back and were not exterminated so as to keep the rodent population down.

Here are a few that hang out at the patio area of White Water Snacks in the Grand Californian

Actually, on our after-hours tour, our Dream CM told us the cats live in the old Skyway to Tomorrow alpine structure and said the CM do feed the cats after park closing. He even took us over to Indiana Jones and showed us a paper plate with some remants of cat food on it that a CM had left out for the cats.

But I agree, they are wild and I wouldn't try to pet them.

I have also seen them in the back of the Hungry Bear restaurant.

I suspect they're in the back by critter country a lot, I'm sure the water and the foliage there attracts rodents, which I have also seen mice over there. Besides that's a pretty quiet area so they probably aren't scared off as much...

I wonder if these kitties realize how lucky they are, living at the Happiest Place on Earth? It would be interesting to attach a camera to them and see what they do all day.

My favorite DL Kitty siting was on the Jungle Cruise. The kitty was sunning itself in the "lion cave" and the skipper told us to look at the animatronic cat. :teeth:

That is hilarious he would sit there of all places! I saw a kitten at White Water Snacks, same spot as those photos.

I cant wait somthing else to loook for while taking in the park...this could turn into a new game. lol

We go to Disneyland once a year... and the last couple of times we have seen them by the Hungry Bear. This last time we also saw one a little further down the river while on the Mark Twain.
