Disney just screwed up so royally!

Disney may lose in that situation but so does anyone else who wanted that room and was willing to commit to it. I think the biggest philosophical difference in this debate is the idea that is it or is it not appropriate to tie up space that you are not committed to using. This debate is the same as the one about people making multiple PS for the same time without planning on using both or one person reserving spots for many other people at a key parade viewing spot. Some people think its OK to do it and others don't. Personally I would not feel fair tying up a reservation and potentially blocking some one else just because I was not able to make a decision about what I wanted to do regardless of the reason.

FYI, I have sent an e-mail to WDW asking about their resort reservation policy concerning multiple reservation. I have described a situation similiar as this for an example. I will post the response so that we will all know the policy.

Would you mind cutting and pasting your email to WDW so we can see how you presented my situation?

So, it seems like you are giving disney another chance?? I wasn't sure you would after reading the first post in this thread.

Have you ever thought of joining DVC?? Not a problem having more than one ressie there and it's prepaid vacations for the next 49 years! Oh, and for a family of 5, the villas are the only way to go....

:) Am so glad you got Disney to fix the problem and have a GREAT trip!!

My two sons got upset when I said that we may not go and I didn't want to disappoint them.

I honestly can say that I didn't think about taking a room reservation out from under anyone. I booked for 4/29 which I knew is a quiet weekend because I didn't want crowds, it's the best thing about living here in Florida! I did only make these reservations a couple of weeks ago and paid the deposits before they were due. The deposit was made on the YC on the 10th of March and wasn't due until the 15th of March. It actually cancelled on the 10th before the 2 weeks policy expired. I never would have even made both reservations if it wasn't for the CM's suggestion. And I certainly wouldn't have left a deposit on the YC if I was told this wasn't allowed.

I don't put 4 in a room for 5, make multiple PS's, park where I'm not supposed to or cheat the system at Disney, never have. For the first time I made 2 reservations for the same weekend. It didn't end up harming anyone or taking a room away from anyone and it's not something I will be doing again.

I will definitely cut and paste the response.

To the OP, are you saying that the supervisor allowed you to make two reservations or simply that he straightened it out so you have one reservation?

In any case, I am glad that this worked out for you.

Since you emailed Disney with my situation, can't you cut your email so I can see how you actually presented it? There can be a big difference in the response you get depending on how you present the situation. And the policy is great, but the CM's need to be more informed so they don't take multiple reservation and accept deposits in the future. And as you have pointed out, you can make multiple reservations and have them held for 2 weeks without a deposit on them. My reservation actually cancelled inside that 2 week period!

To clarify, the supervisor gave me the room at the YC and I cancelled the BCV. That is what I wanted to do this morning once I was told the policy. The CM must have been punching in the wrong dates is all he could think of when she checked for me and I could have any category at both the YC or the BC, both rack rate or under an AP or Fl discount. I wanted to make sure that all 5 of us could go in case my daughter could make the weekend. He laughed and was surprised that I wouldn't simply bring her along and let someone sleep on the floor at the BCV! I told him if I did, I'd never make it out alive from the Disboards!

I would email or call and try to get the one you want with the discount that you had.

With that being said what you should have done in order to keep a discounted room available for other disney guests and you were only going to keep one anyways was to book the room that would hold the 5 of you. That way if she came there was room and if she decided not to you still had a room. I dont think anybody should be able to book a gazillion rooms at different resorts discount/or not just so they can make up their minds later as to which one to take. I understand your dilema with you daughter maybe not coming but you should have just booked the larger room to begin with that way ether way you were covered. Now that room went back out in circulation as a non discounted room when somebody else could have gotten it. Or because it wasnt available somebody could have missed out on a disney vacation because they needed that room.

Come one, I didn't book a gazillion rooms!

Again, they don't hold all the rooms at non discounted rates when they go back into circulation. Not only did the supervisor tell me that when I questioned him, but that has to be the way as there are so many times that I have tried for a FL resident discount only to be told there are none left and then it becomes available that same day or the next day. I'm always told to call back the next morning after 7 am and to keep trying.

Hippychickali, you are some kinda awesomechickali. Very eloquent, and right on the money in each and every one of your points.

OP Carolyn, perhaps after you get a little distance from this matter, you will realize how defensive you came across in your posts....and I, too, have to wonder why you even bothered to air your issue in the first place cuz you sure seemed to be steeling yourself against getting flamed.

Did you know that Richard Nixon was not the only President to do what he did (re: Watergate)? The only difference between him and the others is that he got caught.

Or the more succinct "biblical" perspective can be applied: you reap what you sow.

Good for you, Carolyn, that you got your way, otherwise I'd have to agree with you that, since you are just so bitter about this incident, it would indeed be best for you--and for the others who do want to stay at Disney and play it fair--if you simply took your $ elsewhere.
