My daughter - 7 but turning 8 before our trip this summer - has expressed a little bit of interest in seeing the Disney Junior show (just from reading about it). She enjoys watching the Disney Junior cartoons, so she's familiar with the characters, even if she is on the "old" end of things. (Mickey Mouse clubhouse is the show that's on if she wakes up early on a school morning, so I think for her it's still the "special" show she can watch if she's up before mom and dad...).

Her hesitation seems to be mainly as to whether she is too old for the puppet show (she's become very age-conscious recently). It's a little difficult to tell, but I get the impression that it's more about how she would feel around other kids (saying she didn't want to be with only little kids, and didn't want people saying things about her being too old), rather than her not being interested in the show itself.

Have any of you had 2nd/3rd graders go to the Disney Junior show, and if so, were they way out of range of most of the other kids and/or were they bored with the show? It has been some time since we've been - my older daughter was not interested last time around, and this younger one was too young and not familiar with it, so we skipped it. I'm trying to figure out if it's something to try to steer her away from, or if we ought to try to make it a point to allow her to go.

My son is in 5th grade. Occasionally we'll go see it. You'll see all ages in there. We usually hang towards the back of the carpet so we're not blocking the view of the little kids.

My second grader went last week. She's only seen a few episodes of Disney Jr shows but still wanted to go. She liked it although the show itself, the way the narrator speaks, etc, is clearly geared towards younger kids. She has a younger brother so had that mental cover, if you will, of being there with him (but she chose to go). She had a huge smile on her face when they had things fall from the ceiling and was collecting the 'gold coins.' We sat toward the back and most of the kids were preschool or toddler but there were some older kids too. If your DD is very conscious of it, she may be uncomfortable but I wouldn't necessarily steer her away from it but rather maybe say something like since she didn't see if when she was younger, it's perfectly fine to see it now or explain that no one is going to tell her she's too old for something at Disney.

We've seen this show on several occasions. I have a toddler and my older son is now 9...last time we saw this show my older son was 8...he said he did feel a little out of place because about 80% of the people in there at that time were all younger. Its a really cute show and if she has never seen the show its a cute show to see at least once. Next trip though we are not going to make my older son sit through it, lol...him and his dad are going to go ride ToT while I take the toddler to the show. Honestly its really her decision. If she likes Sofia and Doc and Jake and Mickey then who cares how old she is and just go see it.
