I am tentatively planning a Disney wedding for July 2006. However, I lived down there during the summer in 2003 and I remember that it rained just about EVERYDAY during the summer. It usually only lasted about an hour or so and didn't start til 3ish but I was just wondering if anyone else had bad weather problems with a Disney wedding? Would I be better off planning for August or October (they are the alternative dates) :confused3

Hi, there!

I was married June 18, 2002 in an Intimate ceremony at the wedding pavillion.......and it RAINED all day!

It actually didn't ruin anything....we just didn't get to take any outdoor pictures, which was fine. You always run the chance of rain in florida because it's on the coast. what i would recommend is having the ceremony indoors so you don't have to worry about it. Then, even if it rains, it doesn't ruin your day.

Now, it will certainly be HOT in July, so October would be cooler and a little more "fall" like.

We got married in June and as you can tell from my avatar, it rained on our dessert party. It certainly didn't ruin my day though! We had beautiful weather right up until 9PM, the only part of the day that was planned to be outside. Even with the rain we still had a fantastic viewing of Illuminations.

We spent a week and half after the wedding at Disney for our honeymoon, which took us right past July 4th. Some days we were there it rained, and others it just threated and the rain passed us by. But it never rained for more than a few hours.

I would note that August is pretty prime hurricane season, and hurricane season doesn't end until November. However, I wouldn't try too hard to plan around the weather. Even if it does rain, you'll still have a fantastic day.

I got married on July 14, 2004 and was very worried about rain. Guess what? NOT ONE DROP ON MY WEDDING DAY! It was a beautiful day and did not rain at all. I would not worry about it...they have alternatives and even though it is July...it doesn't always rain!

hi i am getting married in september does anyone know what the weather is like for then (apart from hurricanes!!!).

My cousin got married in June and it rained - but it cleared up so we didn't get wet getting in and out of the Wedding Pavilion. That was nice. ;)

August doesn't rain as much, but that is when Hurricane Charlie visited us.... :(

September sometimes is just as warm, and sometimes the humidity breaks and it's cooler. It really doesn't get cooler until Halloween.

Disney always has back-up plans for outdoor weddings. Go ahead and plan your perfect day - and then remember to pack a big umbrella! Good luck!

:)

You would be amazed at the information you can find online regarding weather forecasts. You can visit Almanac.com or Weather.com to find this kind of information.

Personally, I like Weather.com. You simply enter the zip code for Orlando/Lake Buena Vista (32830), then halfway down the page click on "Averages." This will show you the average temperature and precipitation amounts for every month of the year in Orlando/Lake Buena Vista. This is how I selected my wedding date - simply because I'm planning an "all-outdoor" wedding and reception in Orlando. I know this sounds like suicide, but that's why I picked April - it's the dryest and most beautiful time of the year here!

In my opinion, I would never want to get married in Orlando anytime between July and September. Those are the most miserable months of the year here. It's incredibly hot and humid, and it rains everyday from 3-6 p.m. But that's just my opinion. I live here and have to deal with this type of weather every year. For someone else coming from the North, it may not bother them.

now i am a little worried, i am getting married at 5:00pm in september! me and my partner picked september as we hoped it would be a quieter time of season at disney and we both love autumn weather! do you think i should change the time to 11:00am?

Lorapinky,

Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. Yes, you are right that September definitely is a "slower" attendance time of the year at Disney. The kids have all gone back to school, so the parks and hotels are not jam-packed like they are other times of the year.

Regarding the weather, it can somewhat depend on if you are getting married in early, mid or late September. The afternoon rainshowers tend to get less frequent the later in September you go. Also, the temperature and humidity levels drop off a bit the last week in September. (FYI the "autumn-like" weather finally appears the 3rd or 4th week of October - sometimes not even until November!).

Don't get me wrong, it still rains A LOT in Orlando during the month of September, but you can minimize the chances of getting rained on if you pick a date later in the month versus earlier. And, of course, you can further minimize your chances by picking a ceremony time that's earlier in the day.

But, just remember, in the end it's all up to Mother Nature. If she wants to make it rain at 11 a.m. on the last day of September, then it will happen! You just can't let the rain spoil the most special day of your life at Disney!

Hope that I've helped you a bit. Good luck! I'm sending pixie dust your way so that it won't rain on your big day! :sunny:

If you are eerie about having your wedding in July you should maybe think about the month of may. We vacation every year to Disney World for two weeks in May and have always had beautiful weather. Not to mention that it is not too hot either. Good luck with you decision making.

According to the Unofficial guide to Disney Weddings, May is the most popular month for getting married at Disney. Originally we were planning a May wedding, but moved it to April, so that we wouldn't have to be fighting for a date as much.

Good Luck with your selection!!
