disney is selling or closing disney stores

My DH read in the headlines on Yahoo that Disney is selling all of their stores, except for the ones in the park and downtown disney. They are also selling the Ducks hockey team. They say they are losing around 50 million a year in the stores.

I just don't see how they could be losing $$$$, everytime I go in the store closest to me, it's packed and there is always a line to check out. I am not happy about it closing, but have heard that it will within the next 4-5 monthes

I was just shopping at ours here in Ohio last evening. Two clerks told me they have no clue what thats about but the stores are NOT closing. (I guess she checked the minute customers started asking the other day).

I would hope not, I love to get my Disney fix....and got a great deal on T-shirts just last night!!! I bought two and got one free and they were ALL on sale to boot...lol Yippppeeeeee.....

This is not new news, it was talked about a lot last year and from what I understand, they are selling the Disney stores to someone that will keep them (or most of them) open. They will continue to sell Disney stuff, they just won't be owned by Disney.

My Disney store has closed without warning!

I was in the Kings Plaza Mall in Brooklyn last night getting contact lenses for my son, and of course I had to run over to TDS to get my fix, and it was a dark empty store! Nothing there at all, no signs that they moved elsewhere in the mall, nothing. I was there 2 weeks ago and saw no evidence that they were closing!
My son saw my shock and said he knew about it, saw it was closed last week, but didn't have the heart to tell me.

Now my closest store is in Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream Long Island. I pray it's still there!

Unfortunately that one in Valley Stream probably won't be there much longer either ::sigh:: It is a shame to see them all go, but from what I have heard/read they will in fact be gone soon. The only one that is to remain here in NYC is our 5th Avenue store. It is a shame that FAO closed down. We live a few blocks from these stores and we go often (too often since all of the CM's there KNOW US! LOL). We used to be great friends with the employees of FAO as well and it breaks my heart to see the store looking so gloomy. As for the 5th Ave Disney Store, not long ago they asked for my Email address and asked me to participate in a survey about the store ... I did and it basically asked how many times I visited, did I enjoy the store, do I know of others that enjoy the store, etc. I went on & on about how we go there at least 2x a week on our way home from school and the kiddos spend their allowance there ... I was SOOOO relieved to later hear that they weren't closing!!! My girls were too!!! So, when you get the need to get that "fix", head on over to 5th Avenue and 56th Street in Manhattan ... Three Floors of PARADISE!!!!!!!

The Disney Store in the mall closest to my house closed with no warning a few weeks ago. It was a smaller mall compared to some of the others in the area so I am not sure if this was a factor or not.
