Disney is losing it

I've read several times that ordering the DVD can increase your chances getting selected for pin codes. I can't even remember the last time we watched the DVD, and it usually goes into the trash still in the wrapper, with a little guilt for being wasteful.

Yesterday (February 19) I got a mailer saying that my "FastPass+ Date is coming up fast." Um, yeah. My FastPass+ Date was Feb. 2.
Yeah, we got our dares to remember magnet AFTER we returned from our trip. I know we only booked our trip about 1 month in advanced, but if the mailer is going to arrive AFTER the dates (or in our case even after the trip) why bother.

This past month alone I have given tips on saving money, rope drop, fast passes, discounts, links to Robo's thread for fp priority, ADR advice, and sent at least 5 different people links to wdwinfo, Allears, Mouse Savers, Undercover Tourist, Kenny the Pirate, etc. So many people have no idea. I put it that they can take it or leave it, but for many this is a first time/only time trip, so it's best to try to get the most out of it. Many people I have talked to recently (with all the changes, especially wait times and crowds) are not inclined to want a return trip any time soon. They are quite overwhelmed.

Yeah, I have heard from many not wanting to return as well. Reasons being Too much work for a vacation, too cumbersome, and my biggest pet peeve too difficult to travel with multiple parties (reservations)

I had to laugh when I looked at the little magnet that Disney sends you with Dumbo on it and the important dates to remember. Our vacation starts on Feb. 23 which it says but right above it says last day to customize MagicBands is Feb. 16 just a week before we go. We had our bands way before then!

I just got back from a trip. We checked in on Sunday, 2/14 and checked out on Wednesday, 2/17. When I picked up the mail when we got home on Sunday, the Incredibles package was in it. I was actually confused, wondering if I had another trip booked. But no. It was for the trip we had just completed.

When i got my little happy mail it included advice to make sure to book my FP+ for Soarin'.....um....Soarin' is closed during my visit.

LEFT hand... meet RIGHT hand. ;)

They seem hit or miss about getting their mailings out in a timely manner. We booked back in July for our trip next week. Our friends booked in December for their June trip. In January I was over there and she had the Dumbo magnet with the important dates for making their ADRs, FP+, Magic Bands, Final Payment, and date their vacation starts. I thought it was cool and was sad that we never got one. Later that week ours came. 3 days before our final payment date with that and our vacation starting on it. So there doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason as to when they get around to sending out that kind of stuff, even if you book a long way out.

There are any people who aren't on this board and know everything about Disney World (or think they know everything about Disney World :)). For example, I just started a temp job a few weeks ago and a co-worker is going on an unexpected trip to Disney World next week. ...But, she recently said they didn't book an onsite resort room because the values don't have refrigerators in them and they just needed a small one for the girls' milk. She also said it was frustrating for her because they can't book their FastPasses until they get there because they are not staying on site.

When she first started talking about going, I said if she needed advice to let me know because I've been there a lot and read up on things. She dismissed me with a wave of her hand and said "we go every year and we have military discounts so we know what we are doing."

So a Disney "expert" who doesn't know she can book FastPasses now.

Off thread topic, but we just came back and part of our stay was at ASMu, and it had a dorm-room sized fridge...

This is the first I've heard about the magnet. We booked our June trip last May. We havenot gotten one!

I would think they send out the reminders on the 60 day mark. That way there's no way the reminder gets to the recipient before their window is open.

Granted, this should all be done by email and instant.

I've gotten emails reminders that my big vacation is coming and I can book my FastPasses at 60 days out. However, how many folks make sure their email address on file with Disney is correct? For a while, the reminders went to my husband's email address and he's never made any Disney reservation. And once, a reminder went to my daughter-in-law who, at the time, lived in Ohio and wasn't planning on a Disney trip at all. I finally called and get my email address corrected. I did not do it online but actually called and the person I talked to sent me an email to make sure it was done correctly.

We have never gotten a DVD or pin code.
I used to get pin codes when I hadn't been to WDW since 1981, or DL since 1991, and now that I've finally been back to WDW they've stopped coming. I got them for sure several times between 2001 and 2014, and didn't do anything Disney travel related during those years.

Funniest thing that happened to me was on my last trip. Two weeks AFTER I got home, I got the letter reminding me of my upcoming trip. At first I thought it was for my upcoming trip in May, but nope, it was from the trip I'd just taken. I just had to laugh about it. Now I had added a day to a different resort a couple of weeks before so I figured that's what had messed up their system.

Not if you have past trips. I never ordered a dvd and I get pin codes all the time....except for when I actually plan to go!:o

Actually, I meant you have to request a DVD to get a DVD.
