Workers are building a stone wall around a Walt Disney World lake where an alligator killed a toddler earlier this summer.

Disney officials told the Orlando Sentinel (http://bit.ly/2aLV0t9 ) for a story published Sunday that the barrier wall is part of the new security plan following the death of 2-year-old Lane Graves of Omaha, Nebraska. The boulder wall is going up along the beaches of the Seven Seas Lagoon where several resorts are located.

Disney also put up warning signs and ropes after Graves was dragged by an alligator into the lake on June 14. The boy's body was found 16 hours later and an autopsy showed he died from drowning and traumatic injuries.

The family decided not to file a lawsuit against Disney.

I don't think they are talking about a tall wall (unless something changed)
just the development of the visual deterrent to guests.
They quickly built a rope fence about 4' from the water. Then they added boulders on the ground between the fence and water. Then they added rope netting onto the fence. And they added more sand to the resort side of the fence to bring it up to the boulder level.

And kids are drawn to rocks to climb on.

From the pictures I've seen it just looks like one row of rocks, not a "wall" as you might think of a stone wall. Frankly I think it looks pretty good, but now that I think about the above comment, and knowing how true-kids DO like to climb on rocks and slippery ones are no deterent, I'm having second thoughts.

Where can I find pictures?

A pile of rocks isn't a wall.

That looks like the picture I saw. I don't remember where I saw that. I also think I saw a similar picture of the area in front of the MK, but once again I forget where I saw it.

As I said in another topic, the use of the term "stone wall" is incredibly misleading in this article. But hey, why tell an informative story when you can get a headline that will guarantee clicks.

We were at the Poly last week in a Bungalow and it's not unattractive at all. Safer for sure. They are not done with it yet.

None of that will keep the alligators from lurking too close, we the people need to stay away from the water, especially at night when alligators are more active.
