Disney is a crazy to launch Genie+ During the 50th

Because literally everyone will complain and demand refunds when there is no need for the system.

To be fair Ive realized the execs do not really even recognize the 50th other than a superficial we have to acknowledge this bc of the fans... so i am not sure they really care.

I think you are right. People won't feel like they are getting a good deal, with the September crowds.

Chapek doesn't leave that kind of money on the table.

Cheap-ek being short-sighted as normal. Because the other options are:
  1. Release during a low crowd time and have people howling about how it wasn't worthwhile.
  2. Release during a high crowd and have people howling about how it crashed all the time and wasn't worthwhile.

Or:

3. Goldilocks season (not too low not too high) it works perfectly and nobody complains? :D

That doesn't exist, but there are times in between the low season and the high season where they could have done this instead of waiting for the 50th to do it. I think they got stuck though, Fastpass+ was gone and they didn't want to bring it back just to replace it shortly after with Genie+ and they need something to help with the long lines during high crowd season.

Solution - bet big on Disney IT coming through when they never have before :)

Keeping my fingers crossed! Just rethinking about how the crowds were in July and how much people were complaining, it would be foolish not to have something in place during “the worlds most magical celebration”. We’re going in mid-October and are fully prepared to pull the plug on our trip.

I think that they’ll roll it out almost overnight with very little prior notice, which was my fear for our trip last week. It seemed plausible to me that as they made APs available again, that they would debut the new system a day or two after while we were still there! Dodged that bullet, now I’m curious as to what they’ll decide. Still think they’ll announce it this week and it roll it out over the weekend
