Soo I was kind of interested in a internship at WDW doing something in either event or wedding planning. I looked it up online and I found the rules for what they call "the Disney look." I never knew that they were so strict about what their CMs looked like!!

Here is the link.. it is pretty interesting!!

Oh and p.s. I am out lol I have visible tattoos and piercings that are other than my ears haha.. oh well :confused3

Yeah.. they've always been.

It's only recently (I'd say within the past 10-15yrs) that men are allowed to have any facial hair at all (well trimmed mustache).

No long hair, no extra piercings, no abnormal hair colors, etc.

Makes sense to me.. helps keep in the "theme" of each land, too.

Edited to add: if you can cover up tats with makeup, you're usually good... but they will always have to be fully covered.

Yeah, they've always been very strict.

I think one guy even tried to sue?

I am confused about one thing. You can't have tooth fillings? Like ones you get from the dentist after cavities? or like getting a gold tooth?

also, princesses have to maintain their weight. but disney won't say that. they just have one size costume and either you fit, or you don't. ;)

Actually, they have a variety of sizes, from what I've read from those in the department and attempting to become a character. I believe I heard up to size 8-10. (Though I hear even the higher sizes tend to run extremely small)

Back in the 55-60's men with long hair were denied entry to Disneyland. Including, so I've heard, a Beach Boy.

i said that wrong, i'm sorry.

you have to fit in the sizes they carry though. a size 18 wouldn't be allowed to become a princess, and would be given a different costumed character. kwim?

Haha yeah I was just clarifying:thumbsup2

That is most definitely true. I don't even think fuzzies run up that high, tbh! :rotfl:

I suppose they get away with it by handling it like a casting session/acting job.

They're VERY strict on heights. Mouse height is about 4'8"-5'1", I think, Princesses are low to mid 5's and someone like Goofy is around 6'

Boo, I guess my dream of becoming cinderella has been dashed. I'm 5'7.

on the BMT the tour guide was describing the height that you would have to be in order to be a "friend" of a certain character ;)

::yes::

Wow I have exactly the same goal as you!! I want to go to school to be a event planner but specialize in wedding planning! I also plan to do the intership at WDW also!! Not worry I pass all of the expectations and rules!

Yes, they're very strict. They just want their CMs to blend in and fit the theming. If you take your peircings out and can cover up your tattoos, you'll be fine.

Just so you guys know, there is more information on the College Boards about the Collage/Career Start program.
Also..The characters are real, Mickey has one outfit..Cinderella wears one size and no one "auditions" to be characters.

Btw about tattoos. They do not allow them to show. If they are a certain size there are certain places you will be put.

Am I reading that the wrong way...?

I think they are trying to say that nobody is "playing" cinderella, cinderella is really there and she only wears one size dress. & Mickey changes outfits everywhere he goes. They are all one person. ;)

That cleared it up a little, thanks :]
I still dont get the whole they're one person thing...

I'm good height for a character.
But I would rather not be one.
