We got the Wii Disney Infinity starter pack for our youngest son for Christmas. What else should we get to go with it? What is the minimum amount of extra "stuff" we should get? Thanks!

Amen. I got DH the starter kit cheap on Amazon. He spent twice the original purchase price on add ons in one month. One thing to keep in mind is that if you want to play with 2 people in a playset, you have to have 2 characters from that movie - for instance in Monster's University playset, you have to have Mike and Sulley, or Randall and Sulley...some combo of 2 of the same movie characters.

Oh good grief - I had no idea about this. Guess I "need" a few more characters for under the tree.

Ugh! Seriously? I didn't know this! We got the game for a good deal but now I guess I have to buy more characters. So if all 3 of my kids want to play together, my dd can't be a Princess while the boys are Monsters? This isn't going to go over well. LOL

I don't think you have to buy anything additional. My son got this for his birthday last week and my kids were playing in 2-person mode with the characters that came with the set (Sully and some pirate from Pirates of the Caribbean) over the weekend. We don't plan to buy him any additional characters until Christmas.

Be sure to understand that in the "worlds" (I'm sure that's not the right word), only characters from that movie are playable. So if you are just getting the starter set, don't buy a Lightning McQueen figure to go with it. You have to first get the Lightning McQueen playset that has the Cars world.

The starter set has Monsters Inc, Pirates and Incredibles. So when we initially bought it, we got a couple extra characters from those movies so that the 2 boys could play at the same time.

Now in the build-your-own-world (kind of like minecraft), any characters can play.

The other thing to note is that it is not clear how to get the thing into 2-player mode on the Wii (we have Wii-U). I had to google it, curse several times, and watch a youtube video before I could get it to work.

Any characters can play in the build-your-own world mode. Maybe this is called Toybox? It reminds me of minecraft. But in the canned movie worlds, only characters from that movie can play.

Also, just to save some families from headaches later on, the Wii version does NOT support 2 player play. There were a lot of unhappy Disney fans during the release because of this. Most returned their Wii versions.

For anyone looking to buy more items Target has a 5 off 24.99 or higher Disney infinity item. Coupon was in the toy book insert in Sunday's paper or you should be able print it from target.com

How about the Wii U version? I bought the XBOX starter kit, but I was thinking of exchanging it for Wii U because we are buying the Wii U for Christmas.

After reading the reviews for the wii and xbox360, we picked up a used xbox360 and the xbox 360 version of the game. The 360 version seemed to have better reviews and worked as promised from the box.

As far as what other stuff to go with it, the power discs add quite a bit of fun, or at least my son thinks so. I found buying them on ebay worked much better than the blind packs that were for sale. And more figures are always good. We picked up most on a buy one get one 50% off when they had sales.

We were thinking of getting DS Disney Infintiy for Christmas. We have both the Wii and the XBox 360. DS's friend has it for the Wii so that is what DS asked for but would it be better to get it for the Xbox? (thinking of 2 player mode in the game play)

If your son will want to play 2 player mode, then get the Xbox version.
