Last time I was in Disney it rained for most of the afternoon and evening.
We actually had to *BUY* ponchos because we forgot to throw our old ones in the backpack!!
ARRGHH!!!!
I hate that!
(Now we have 4 more that will last well past our deaths.)
Anyway, the Magic Kingdom was really good.
All the fair weather guests left the Park early and we were line free for most of the night.
It rained hard off and on and never less than a trickle.
At the end of the night it stopped just in time for the fireworks.

Thunder Mountain in the Rain was even MORE fun than in the sun.
Much more exciting.
Or maybe it was because of the threat of lightning, I'm not sure. :)

This was in March.
Maybe the crownds going home doesn't happen in the summer months.

Yep, I do!! When we went in early March 2003, we did the MK Friday night E-Ride night. It started raining heavily, and the park emptied right out! It was so much fun! We ran around from ride to ride and got soaked, it was a riot. :rotfl: Even our two little boys, who were 3 and 17 months, just thought it was hilarious. :goodvibes It was one of our best times in the MK, go figure.

I have to add that there is something special about being in WDW, especially MK, while it's raining. Probably because on my very first trip, in February 1983, we had rain off and on, so it created a positive association for me. :) I actually secretly hoped for a little rain on our Feb. trip while we were in MK. :rolleyes1 Never happened though.

I love Disney in the rain!!! Everyone scatters...as for me, give me a poncho and I'm good to go :D

In mid July and August, I prefer to be touring in the rain over the extreme heat and humidity. The rain that starts at about 6 PM totally clears out the parks and you can get a lot done in the rain with not too many others around. Just make sure you aren't wearing sneakers - those will not dry out any time soon if you are stuck in the torrential downpours

I agree that I can't say I love it, but it definitely doesn't stop me. I have told my husband that WDW in the rain is better than anywhere else in the sunshine!

One of our most enjoyable memories is of MGM in the rain. We got rained out of Fantasmic (it was REALLY pouring) and before we could even get out of the venue everybody was completely soaked, even with ponchos. While it should have been a miserable ride home on the buses everybody was laughing, joking and having a great time. I was standing and I kept apologizing to this woman I was standing over and dripping on (it was a very crowded bus) and she just laughed that she was already wet and held my backpack on her lap so it was easier for me to stand. I can't imagine this happening anywhere else in the world.

Oh I agree, I love the World when it is raining! Not only do the parks clear out a bit but it just doesn't seem like Disney if I go and don't get hit by at least one afternoon shower.

Plus, one of my most cherished photos of my DS was taken over by the PotC when it was pouring down rain. Tons of people were gathered in the gift shop to get out of the rain and purchase ponchos. Well, we were at the stand to buy a poncho for DS, since he had never had one before. The next thing I know, he darts off and into this open patch in the store where the rain is just pouring down on him. He loved it! Everyone was giggling at him and I snaped the cutest picture. :earboy2:

Well, i don't mind the rain-- IF it rains for a short time in the middle of the day. What I can't stand are the evening rains that cancel the evening entertainment. Why?

We are 0 for 3 seeing Fantasmic, thanks to rain.

On our first trip in 2003 (a shorter trip), we were supposed to do Fantasmic on our last night. Rained out. Last year, we tried twice (the first time WITH the dining package.) First time-- 10 minutes into the show-- started pouring. Second time-- started pouring 20 minutes before the show.

We've dubbed this the "Fantasmic Curse".

We're going to do our best to break the curse in June, but I'm not holding my breath.

PratersloveDW, you should post that picture - it sounds so adorable!

I have the best memory of watching a bunch of little kids racing windup toys with CM's in the Christmas store in the MK during a thunderstorm. At the end of the race, the winner got a big huge plush Santa Mickey and all the participants were given their windup toys. It was lovely...
