Disney in Summer Still Busy?

I read that summers in Disney are not as busy as they used to be. The blog I was reading said that May is a great time to go and the first 3 weeks of June are nowhere near as busy as it used to be. The person lives in Wisconsin, so that loses some reliability to me compared to somebody who is in Florida. I see a lot of people talk like they are in the know about things, but it looks like it is just second hand information? We are planning 4 trips for a single calendar year and trying to decide on two of them. We have October and December for sure.

We usually go the 3rd or 4th week in June and it isn't bad at all! We were there last summer and the longest we waited was probably about 20 minutes. We went one other time in September and September felt much more crowded than June, but we were expecting lower crowds and didn't plan as well as we should have.

On the other hand, my brother was there the same time we were and thought the crowds were horrible. He didn't really plan anything, though. So, I guess its more about planning than anything else.

If you don't have kids in school, I'd recommend early May as one of your trips--beautiful weather and lowcrowds. But if you do, I still think early June is pretty good. We're considering that instead of October this year as well. I personally would also do one in February if I was looking at 4, because other than the holiday weekend, we really enjoyed that time too. It was awesome to be chilly in the park sometimes LOL

In 2017 I was able to visit:

January 31-February 2: This was mid-week and had the least amount of crowds I have ever seen at WDW.

April 8-15: (Week before Easter) It was slightly busy, but it was very enjoyable. Popular rides had lines, but we didn't wait more than 20 min or so for most of everything.

May 27-June 4: Crowds on the weekends were a little larger. This was the week Pandora opened and we were there opening day. As expected Pandora was real busy (they began a line system to allow so many people in at a time). We didn't have any issues with crowds at all. Wait times were 20ish minutes.

August 4-9: A little more crowded than the May/June trip, but again, I didn't find it unbearable. Wait times could get up to 30 minutes for rides.

November 18-24: (Thanksgiving Week) Crowds were not large until Tuesday when we noticed them increasing significantly. Wait times were definitely longer at the parks we visited. I never felt that they were over the top crazy, but I have been there enough to not care as much to see the busy attractions.

In all, I wouldn't think of your 4 trips as 4 individual trips, but as 4 parts of one vacation experience. That should be enough that you can hit the big attractions with your fastpasses and explore the rest. Get an idea of all the things you definitely want to see and break them up. I think it is more enjoyable to us when we do it that way.
