Our school system has moved fall break from September to October this year. We have already made reservations so, I hope it works out!

We are staying at WDW October 18-22 and then to Sarasota for 22-27.

For those of you have traveled this time of year how was it? What's the weather like? Still a good time for the beach? Crowds?

Was there two years ago and it was glorious weather. Come from the UK, more used to rain that time of year :-)

Crowds were OK too, if you avoid Epcot on weekend evenings. It's F&W time, so gets busy with locals. Found the Sunday in MK was busy too, but not unmanageable, just not as quiet as other days.

Just as a reminder, MK will close early several days for the MNSSHP, so make sure that you are paying close attention to the park hours.

I am waiting for them to release the park hours, been looking at crowd levels to figure out ADRs and such. I think I have it planned, but I know things can change! I am sure they will have park hours out by the time I make ADRs? I'm hoping to snag one at BOG for the first night.

We are planning to avoid Epcot all together. We only have 4 days, and we have decided not to park hop this time. The kids wanted more time in MK this time.

I think it is a great time of year to go. The weather is great- not as hot and humid as Sept.

Magic Kingdom will have the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party which is wonderful- the park does close early for regular ticket holders on those days though as you need a special ticket for the event.

Food and Wine should also be going at Epcot- a great way to sample different foods but I would advise to go during the day or, at the very least, skip Fri-Sun nights there- very busy.

always go in oct.weather warm, can always swim. One year it was mid 90,s at midnite...rain almost non existent

We switched from March to Oct for Food&Wine and more reliable warm weather. Just avoid WS on Sat. but be sure to check out the Eat to the Beat concert series.

October is my favorite month to go and I usually pull dd out of school for a week to do it. Low crowds, perfect weather, MNSSHP. And by perfect weather I mean hot enough for water parks and Discovery Cove but not so hot that you are miserable in the theme parks.

I see you're in Indiana...half of the state of Indiana was there last year when we were there, I think! If the people we were talking to weren't British, they were from Indiana! LOL. By the end of the week, when meeting new guests who were accent-less, we'd always say, "Let me guess...you're from Indiana, right?" LOL.

The weather is decent, but can vary. In 2012, the weather was awful (90s and very humid). Last year, the weather was great. We have three October trips under our belts and have never experienced a drop of rain.

Park hours will be out either today or Monday, most likely. I'd keep an eye on www.easywdw.com and follow his park recommendations. The key is visiting MK on MNSSHP days...with the shorter hours to close for the party, the crowds are pretty light. However, on non-party days, the crowds at the MK are out of control and it's so crowded it's hard to get anything done without long lines.

*Love* going to Disney in October! The weather is not too hot and crowds are more manageable (although that seems to be changing). It's actually my favorite time of year to go.

One of the best times to go IMO.
Crowds and temps are low!

October or early November would be my 2 favorite months to go....! :thumbsup2

Just confirmed that I will be flying from the west coast to WDW to meet my daughter, son in law and 2 youngest granddaughters in October. Very excited! And, yup, they are from Indiana also! ;)

We were there last year from October 18th to the 29th. Personally, I was not impressed with it. Epcot gets crazy on the weekend because of F&W. As someone who got all of one dish, eh. The added crowd levels weren't worth it for me. With park hoppers we were able to make the most of our days even though MK closed several nights at 7 for MNSSHP. The ones where it didn't were very busy MK days so be prepared.

I was cold a lot even though it wasn't terrible. But I was post-Chemo not even a month so I might not be the best judge. My DW said that it was fine. Warm and not really chilly at nights but obviously we disagree.

Basically, it's not a bad time to go, especially if you don't mind a little bit more of the crowds. Just try to schedule Epcot days away from the weekend.

Yeah, crowds are not "low"...they're average, which these days means busy, but not so busy that you want to move to a deserted island so you don't have to deal with one. more. person. You can get plenty done in the MK on party days, even if the park closes at 7:00. I'd spend my MK days on party days, and then either hop to Epcot (AK closes early that time of year as well) or do something outside the parks in the evenings.
