We have been to disney in the winter and in the spring, but never in the summer. Just wondering if anyone can comment on the lines (wait times) and any other pro's and con's of going in June. Thank you so much!

Hello!
Wje visited Wdw last year the last week of June. It was very hot and muggy! It also rained alot, thundershowers pretty much every time we were in the pool! We still had a great time, cause it's Disney and you always have a great time, but the crowds were large as well. My advice to you is to have a plan, know what you what to see, go early use fast passes and enjoy it cause time flies so fast when your in the world!!!

Hi and welcome to the DIS!

June gets more crowded with each passing day. The crowds build on Memorial Day weekend in late May. As the month of June progresses, more and more schools are out each week. By the last week of June it is very crowded because you are now leading up to the July 4 weekend, which is the most crowded time of the summer.

So if you are going in June and want to keep crowds to a minimum, I'd suggest you go in early June.

My family will be there May 27th-June 4th. I have been nervous about the crowds because when we were there in January 2004, we promised we would NEVER go in the summer! But here we are going in the summer!

I figure as long as we are mentally prepared for crowds and plan then we should be ok.

the plus side are the extra hours and shows!

Have fun! :rotfl:

We have been in January, June and February respectively and to us the only good side of going in June was not having to worry about taking the kids out of school.

We went last year June 1-6 thinking maybe it wouldn't be too crowded yet with school just ending..........WRONG!!! Let's just compare this way, in January we did almost all of Magic Kingdom in one day with just a few things we returned to another day of the trip. In June, we didn't even do half of Magic Kingdom in a day and it was a very long day with later hours!

Plus like someone else already said it was so hot and muggy that we felt drenched by the time we walked from our room to the bus stop in the morning! It sucked the energy out of everyone in our family so much quicker. We took a swim break every day (which we didn't do in Jan.) but our swimming was often cut short by the late afternoon showers that occurred.

You will have a nice trip...you're going to Disney after all! :) But just be prepared that you will not see as many things, you will have long lines and crowds and it will be hot! You have to plan on a lot of fast passes, a lot of waiting for things that don't have fast passes and a lot of people. If you are reasonable in expecting those things and don't let it frustrate you, you'll be fine.

We did have a nice trip but we definitely wouldn't choose to go back that time of year. Going just earlier this month, we actually had several cool days with highs around 60 but I would rather throw on layers and have the sun out and low crowds to enjoy Disney. As for pulling the kids out of school, they made up all their work easily and I got no complaints from teachers at all. We'd do it again that way in a heartbeat!

Been to WDW as a teen a lot in June so it's been a while. But back then, it was the only park, so you can imagine how busy it would get.

I'm going May 26th - June 2nd this year.

I am doing something different this year. I signed up with Tourguide Mike. I know there are a lot of posts about his service, and a lot of positive ones. But I always poo-poo'ed it because I have been there so many times, "I know what I'm doing". :teeth:

But, I must admit. His site is interesting and very imformative. I feel so much better now with my planning. He puts incredible thought behind his advice. He tells you what park to go to in the am and in the pm. And he even tells you what rides to ride when. It's fascinating.

I'm not sure I would use it for off-season because we tend to slow down the pace then and take a care free attitude about the parks.

But during a busy time of year, I think it's going to be priceless. And what is $18/19 bucks when a WDW trip is thousands! :thumbsup2

We went the second week of June last year. We never had to wait more that 15 minutes in line, it was only hot 2 days. It rained alot. Not just afternoon showers...it rained all day. I think the rain kept alot of people away, and we were just really lucky. When DD and I got in line for Splash Mountian the wait time posted was more than an hour, we were on in 15 minutes. :)

The earlier you go in June the better. Schools in the south are out late May, but up north most schools are not out until the second or third week of June. One positive for us....we do not like to swim when it is cool and June will definitely be warm enough to swim! I tend to think of July, August and even September as hotter and muggier than June, and you should not have any hurricane activity yet!!!

I happen to love going in June! We will be there this June 9. It is hot, but we live in MN so we love the heat when we go on vacation. You don't have to mess with taking kids out of school, and that can be a huge issue. We did not have major lines the last time we went in June and we prepared for it. All in all it is great to go to Disney whenever you can. June is great too!

We have been to WDW three times in June. Two trips were earlier in the month but last year we went from June 15-23. The World was crowded, but not horribly so. Getting to all the parks before opening (EMH or regular) allowed us to get a lot done before the big crowds arrived later in the morning. Fast Passes are always great to use, especially in the busier seasons. Somewhere around the 20th or 21st the size of the crowd exploded beyond belief. Every park was totally jammed so even park hopping did not help. Fortunately we had already done everything we wanted to do...and then some. So we just kind of glided the rest of our stay doing whatever we could....the early morning arrivals still helped a lot.
The evening EMH last June was way too crowded to enjoy.
Just remember to take breaks, drink a lot of water so you don't get dehydrated in the Florida heat.
You can have a good time in June with planning and early arrivals.

First of all welcome... I noticed it was your first post :cheer2: pixiedust: :woohoo:

Okay back on topic... June is extremely hot and humid, crowded if I had any other choice I would go at a different time but.... I loved my trip it was very magical...

There is another thread on the resorts board about June that was started yesterday... you may want to read that one too.

We go every year starting the day after Memorial Day. Last year was our best trip because of Tour Guide Mike. We followed his advice and saw everything @ the MK in one day plus great seats for the 3:00 parade! The first week in June is the absolute latest time I would go during the summer months. It can get very warm-just drink lots of water.
