Hey! I need to know what the best time is to go to Disney in July. What is the wheather like then? I have 4 children and they seem to dislike the heat. I know it's really hot in the summer. We were thinking about going through July 4th. Is that a good choice? What are the crowds like? The hotel prices? Just needed to know! Thanks alot!

The 1st time I took my son, we were there July 5-12. Yes, it was hot. But, with a misty fan we were fine. The lines were long. But, with a game boy/game boy advance we were fine.

I had such horrible thoughts in my mind of what the crowds would be like. Yes, there were crowds. But, being at WDW with the WORSE crowds is better than being at home. Again, the game boys helped. I also carried a small word search and auto pencils. So, the lines seemed to go pretty fast.

We stayed at ALMo, full price. That was before I found the DIS!!!

I am sure you will get more replies, though :)

We've done Disney for the week of July 4th twice now (in 1998 and 2000) and both times it was really OK. I was a little concerned with the crowds, but we did Early Entry, took our nap/swim break and came back in the evenings. Of course, now, using fast pass also helps! We did do MK on July 4th, but then after our break, we went to Epcot and stayed for Illuminations! It was breathtaking!!!!

Yes - July is hot - but not unbearable! My kids did fine knowing that we were going to go back for a break and swim! The mister fans work wonders! And - I don't know the ages of your kids - but don't be afraid to rent a stroller. The heat can be hard on kids - but if they have a place to relax, they do fine. My youngest DD would sit in her stroller and play with the mister fan for a long time while we waited for the older ones to ride the "Mountain" rides. Also, sometimes, a walk through a gift shop can be refreshing - the AC can cool you off quick! And, try to schedule a sit down lunch somewhere in the air conditioning to help everybody cool off!

Enjoy your stay! By the way, they do offer specials during the summer too! In 2000, we stayed at the Contemporary in the North Garden Wing on a special. Just keep watching the Disboards and check out Mousesavers.com!!!

A number of the deluxe resorts go from "regular" season prices to "value" season prices starting July 5. The rest have regular season prices throughout July. For possible bargains check out mousesavers.com which keeps track of discount codes for resort rentals.

The week that July 4 falls in is always the most crowded week of the summer. The other summer weeks are also very crowded but not as bad as that one week. During most July weeks you can expect lines for popular rides at MK to be in the one hour range most of the day making the use of fastpass a necessity. During July 4 week, those lines go to 2 hours.

It is very hot -- mid 90's during the day, high 70's to low 80's at night and very humid; you can sweat sitting still outside at midnight. It also rains quite a bit although usually it is a few 30 to 40 minute thunderstorms spaced out between the afternoon and evening with sun the rest of the day.

We have gone during June, July and August. I don't think there was any difference in temp. from one month to the next - they were all really hot! But as the previous posters have said, you can do things to beat the heat.

Drink lots of water, use the mister fans, and the most important for our family - take an afternoon break! We always leave around noon and head for the pool. We usually go back late afternoon, grab some dinner somewhere in the parks and stay till closing.

I think the most important thing to do to avoid the heat as much as possible is to plan, plan, plan. Plan when you'll take breaks, where you'll eat so you can stay cool, if you'll take a mid-day break, etc.

As far as lines go, make sure you use Fastpass. We take advantage of Early Entry (now Magic Hour, I guess) and hit all the really popular rides first. We save the less popular attractions for later in the morning or afternoon when everyone else is standing in line for 60 min or more to ride Space Mtn or something similar!

I don't know if attendance patterns will be the same as the first time Disney offered EE, but traditionally the park that had EE that day tended to get crowded early and crowds built even more during the day. We would use EE, then leave at noon, and go to a different park in the afternoon and always found it less crowded. I would think this would be the pattern again.

Hope this helps. Whenever you go, I know you'll have a wonderful time, heat or no heat!

We all know that the summer months are wicked hot in Florida. But we still want to be there!!! We'll be there next July
7/1/04 thru 7/11/04. We know its going to be hot,but like you all have suggested, there are ways to stay cool!!! I'll be looking for all the ways and places to get out of the heat. The heat will NOT keep us away!!!
