Can anyone tell me what to expect at Disney in the first week of May? This will be a first for my DH and DS (3) and my first in 20 years!!!
How is the weather and the crowds at the parks?
Thanks for any help!

Hi! We went in 2005 for our first trip to Disney May 6-15. Although I have never been any other time, I have heard others' stories about crowds and can say we had a FANTASTIC time. The only crowds we ran into was at MK but that was only because Regis & Kelly were there that day.

Have fun!!!! :thumbsup2

We've gone from April 27-May 7 (roughly) for the past three years. The crowds are never that bad (except the day Regis and Kelly were there). It's definitely a good time to go.

Thanks for the info, I really want this to be a great trip for my husband. He thinks WDW is just a park like Kings Island that we have here in Ohio!! :sad2: I can't get him to understand!!!!

I've not been to King's Island but I have been to Cedar Point, and while we LOVE LOVE LOVE that place, Disney World is a whole other 'experience'. He will fall in love with it.

I have gone around that time every year since 2002 and the parks are fine.. alot of families wait for memorial day weekend to go... That is the busiest time.. So the first weekend of May is perfect... :surfweb:

Been there twice in early May and it was great.

We went May 1 -8 in 2003, the crowds were not bad at all, but the weather was warm (95° plus all week). I heard that it usually is not that warm that early, I guess we hit it in a warm stretch.

This year we went April 24-May 1st. The crowds were a little more heavier then May, but not bad at all, everything was less then a 60 minute wait. The temps were around 90° the first 3 days and dropped to comfortable 80's the remainder of the week.

We'll be there that week as well! The last time we went in May was 2001 for our honeymoon. :goodvibes The lines were very light and the days were nice, not too warm and some days we even started out in a light jacket. Nothing at all like King's Island's lines. (I didn't get to go to KI this year, by the way. )

I went May 1-7 2005, It was nice weather low crowds walked on lots of rides. The only day it was really crowded was Sat at the MK. Make sure when you go grad nites are not going on cause the MK will close early on that day.

That wll be a great time to go. The last couple of times we've been was the first week of May. Both times I wore jogging pants and t-shirts. I never broke a sweat - it was great! The crowds were not bad at all except at MK - but Fast Pass worked well and we had a great time.

We went the 3rd week of May and the weather was really nice. Flordia can still go either way, really hot or nice.

when we went in 2005 the weather was perfect, around 85 the entire time. It only rained once, and that actually helped to clear the park and give us less wait time to get on the rides!! We didn't let the rain stop us! :sunny:

The weather was also nice enough to enjoy the pool at the resort as well.

We always go the 2nd week in May. Word on the street is that the 1st week is even better than the 2nd. It was GREAT!!! The newer attractions always have short waits (30 minutes or so) but thats what fastpass is for. Weather has always been good also. Have a great time!!!

It would be perfect. I have gone twice at that time. Lines were short and the weather was great.

Also in May, Epcot has the flower and garden festival. I think Epcot is at it's best during the event :flower1: :flower1: . The toparies are beautiful and there flowers of all sorts everywhere. I went this May and then again this month and Epcot just isn't the same without the flowers.
