After this crazy long winter I thought it would be great to plan a get away for next year :). I was looking at the second week of February as it gives us an extra day off with Family Day. I'm starting to have second thoughts though after hearing so many say how cold it is. Hoping my Canadian friends and help me out. Is it really that cold for us? Everything I see days temps between 40-80 which I think is about 10-25ish. I'm thinking that would still be nice after leaving -20 ;) I just don't want to be miserable if the kids are complaining about being outside all day. I have read posts about taking hats and mitts so just not sure :-/
We went in September last year and loved the crowd levels but found it crazy hot!!

We just went last month from the 15-22 and we had amazing weather. That week it hid mid to high 20's. We would go swimming at 10/11 in the morning and it would be warm enough. The rest of the month the weather was not so pretty from what we saw. The evenings tend to cool off quickly but as long as you have a hoodie or light jacket you'll be fine. The best thing to do is just keep an eye on the weather before the trip and pack extras just in case.

I think the bigger issue we had was that Family Day is the same day as President's Day and the whole week was busy as you had crowds for President's Day week, and then crowds for the upcoming Dapper Days. We skipped the park on President's Day and went shopping at Citadel Outlet where the store had even better deals because of their President's Day sales. Because of the excess crowds from back to back weekend events it was pretty busy in the park and a majority of the rides were at least a 40 min wait. For our first time though we managed just fine and had an amazing time!

Over the years we have visited WDW in Dec,Jan,Feb,Mar,Apr,etc. And almost always from the weather hit and miss. Recent in Jan 2014 the day we went to ML was hot and perfect but just the day before was wet, cold and overall nasty. I also recall another time in Feb and it was really cold. We were just there about 2 weeks ago and the weather was perfect.

Another thing to keep in mind is that Jan and Feb some attractions may be closed for repairs. However generally speaking, Jan and Feb are low season.

Based on our past experience we will not return in Jan or Feb again. I want hot weather with low to no risk of cold. I don't mind the rain much. We are returning the last week of August this year.

Good luck with the planning.

We went Feb 22-Mar 2. It wasn't overly hot but it wasn't 'cold'. Anything to get out of the Canadian winter we just had was great.
This was the first time we went in February. Mostly we go April/May. There were days on the beach where I was sitting wrapped in a towel with goosebumps, but my dh and dad/mom were fine.

We didn't do any parks on our trip last month. We did 7 beautiful gulf coast beaches instead! At night it did cool down alot, and I was glad I brought pj's with pants instead of a nightie and hoodies/light jackets.
My dad, son and hubby went to the Toronto Blue Jays spring training home opener, it was definitely the coldest day there about +12 ish and overcast and rainy. The following day was clear blue sunny skies about +26.

So it was completely random weather, just pack a light jacket and you will be fine. I will say that it was not warm enough to wear a tank top every day.

No matter what though, you are out of the Canadian cold! :cool1:

We have gone 5 times to Disney/Universal : 4 times in February the week before Family Day, and this last time was during March Break.

I really believe this winter was an anomaly - unusually cold for everyone! Most years the 2nd week of February was perfect for us: we do NOT like touring the parks in very hot weather. When I'm walking around in the bright (!!!) Florida sun in 28 degree March weather, I get sweaty and sticky pretty fast. So for us, February, with an average temperature of about 22 - 24 degrees, we love that time of year. Warm enough to enjoy the parks (we would sometimes need to carry a sweater in a backpack, but meh), and more than warm enough to enjoy a dip in the pool in the afternoon. Floridians are really really serious about heating their pools, so we are never worried!

March was nice this year and a wee bit warmer - we hit 28 degrees on two days. But that for us was almost too hot. And even so the weather was STILL hit & miss - we also had two days that were very cold (14 degrees and a lot of wind is not fun). Would we go again in March? The extra 4 degrees of heat is not worth the extra costs and the bigger crowds for us. We like going when the parks are cooler, but quieter.

Either way, you will love your trip. And getting away from the snow is always worth it!

Thanks everyone!!! I think I will try to hold out until February ;). I hate the idea of missing free dinning in September but it really was too hot for us! It sounds like February will be the type of weather my family likes and a great break from a Canadian winter ;).

Way back in 98 I did 3 weeks at Disney in Feb for my honeymoon. Our weather was all over the map from jeans and sweaters for 3 straight days to shorts and t shirts, to a tornado that hit just out side of WDW and brought 4 straight days of rain so pack expecting just about anything.
