We have plane tickets for the last week in Aug and now I am trying to figure out the hotel/house part. I am torn between waiting to see if there is free dining during our week or looking for a hotel or time share (a friend has offered us a week in theirs).
It seems like there are so many oprions I don't have to rush into any off site decision. The only thing that is bugging me is: if we don't do free dinig then we will book a group YES program as we have done in the past. The YES program off site option is cheaper but free dining is nice because it always seems like we cut corners to save at mealtime. I would love to hear other opinions on this maybe I am not thinking it all the way though (I should mention I am a die hard planner and it kills me to wait and see)

I think they will most likely offer free dining again for late August and September because that is still considered "hurricane" season and is still a traditionally less busy time for WDW; but I do think they are going to wait as long as they can before releasing the promotion for that time frame. I agree that your options are going to be greater for going to WDW during this time and that you don't need to rush into a decision right now. I think late August is a great time to go and is one of the best kept secrets for Disney travel planning. :thumbsup2

We've been going for years during different times and our friends just convinced us that the last week in Aug is the best because we don't want to take our kids out of school. So far it has paid off with the plane tickets we got an amazing price.

We've been at the end of Aug. a few times now and it is definately a great time to go when you can't pull kids out of school. We got great deals every time!

I think some of the new "stuff" in the MK is scheduled to open this spring and fall. I don't know that I'd count on any deep discounts for a while after stuff starts opening. Even during the "slow" times
