Can you phone Disney Direct and just book a room only without tickets included if you are going to purchase AP's whilst on that visit?

I know you wouldn't get a discount cos you need the AP actually in your hand but I don't see the point in paying for a ticket when its not really needed.

Thanks

No Fiona - there are quite a few threads on this - you need your AP in your hand to be able to book the room as you have to quote your AP number at the point of booking. The alternative is to apply early for your AP by post (there is a thread somewhere on this I think Mulan was going to do it) but not sure this has been proved in practice yet.

The alternative would be to buy shares and then use your shareholder card to get a discounted room only rate.

That's right :thumbsup2 Although regarding postal application for AP I think it has to be validated within 30 days of purchase so that would mean leaving hotel book until the last minute :)

The best option is to book one of the off site hotels - Holiday Inn, Explorers etc for that trip

Do you have to have a AP to book a room only?
What if you just want a room but do not want to buy a AP?

Basically they wont let you have one. To book room only you have to have AP already. Obviously they want to sell packages.

Its a catch 22 situ - you need an AP to book a room but you can't book room only till you get an AP. We got round it on our last visit by using Shareholder to book room only and then got the AP's when we got there.

It used to be at one time they never asked for validation of your AP number (mind you, you also used to get CM's who didn't know what an AP was) but I think Reservations have shaped up a bit in recent years - it certainly seems more organised.

Question regarding this. If we have booked a 3 days park passes and decide to buy AP's when we are there do they discount the cost of the 3 days?

Thanks in advance

Steve

If you bought the ticket as part of a package you cant get anything back on it if you choose to buy AP.
If you bought it as a ticket only you can get the money refunded but the amount reduces the longer it is left ie if you have 3 day ticket and chosse to upgrade to AP on day 1 you will get 3 days refunded, if you wait til day 2 you will only get 2 days etc
