Disney Honeymoon June 1-11 Closing thoughts

After our experience at Jiko we were a little worried about Boma, but didn't want the one experience to cloud the other. To all out there that have suggested Boma for breakfast :thumbsup2 Thank you so much. This meal made up for all of Jiko and we look so forward to returning for dinner to sample all the exotica food Boma has to offer. This breakfast is both familiar and unique which makes it a good comfort zone for those that are a tad picky.

Again a major draw for me here was the omlette station so that I could decide my eggs. Two things here were the yummy tomatoes and the curry biscuits and gravy. WOW!!! I have no idea what they were and maybe one of you who was smart enough to take pics of the actual buffet know better then I do. I had seconds of both.

Here is the quinoa (spelling??) like oatmeal but didn't like it and the brioche french toast yummy

pastry and fruit.
I definitely recommend this meal and can't wait to go back!!!!
We went to Sea World that day spent about 30 for all food and snacks and the pic i took i accidentally deleted sorry:guilty:
That night we decided to head over for dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express...this was the only unplanned meal of the trip and boy am I glad we decided to eat dinner with a meal credit rather then do dinner at Sea World. We have a WGP Express here in Columbus Ohio but one dish they don't have is the quesadilla YUMMY!!!!! THis is a true gem for the dining plan and a great value as it counts as only a QS....this is a must.

We also went over to Goofy's to get make your own snacks
I got the marshmallow in chocolate with sprinkles and this was sugar on sugar on sugar and took me days to finish.
DSCF4604_0018.jpg

DH got the rice crispy that I understand they don't do anymore and he finished his in the airport two days later :lmao: see there was not room for snacks.

And pics of the shop

This store is great to use snack credits but be warned they have a really small selection of what qualifies as a snack and it was frustrating...a fav were the premade rice crispies, the chip and dale pretzels, and the mickey animal crackers.

We ate here several times but this was the only day I ever remembered the camera...Sorry I missed the beignet picture but they were yummy and just like everyone raves about. MickeyNickie after reading your review I am sorry I missed the cinnamon rolls here, that is a must for next time. The breakfast was always very good...loved the sausage. It was a great value to use a snack credit to get a bowl of fruit to share.

After breakfast we went to DTD and went up in the balloon :woohoo: and then had an out of pocket snack

That night was our last dinner and I picked California Grill so we could see the fireworks over the MK.
We had a window seat that was so perfect....we didn't have to even go out to the deck because the view was great and we got to hear the music piped in. We also watched the water pageant from there which was a delight that I had hoped for.
Service was good and relaxing...we made it known we didn't want to rush.
My app. was the sonoma goat cheese ravioli
DSCF4558_0064.jpg

This was one of my favorites of the trip it was lite and filled with flavor. The sauce was so good with the bread.
DH had the Lobster risotto which he raved about
DSCF4559_0063.jpg

For our main course I had the Lamb chops and wow was this good...it even had a veggie in it that i had never seen before which was new and fun.
DSCF4569_0061.jpg

DH had the Filet and he said it was good very tender and flavorfull.
DSCF4570_0060.jpg

One dish I would like to try next time is their famous pork tenderloin with polenta.
For dessert I got the Trio of temptation and this was the most refreshing and tasty dessert I think of the trip for me. I loved that it wasn't heavy.
It was cheesecake with pistachio cookie and chocolate banana sauce, white chocolate mousse with passion fruit puree and then California strawberries with mojito sabayon
DSCF4572_0058.jpg

DH got the the chocolate cake with ice cream so very him
DSCF4573_0057.jpg

This dinner was fabulous and the perfect way to end the magic...I would like to try Narcossas next time I think during the Fireworks for a new restaurant and to give DH more seafood options.

Next is the conclusion with Kona and Earl of Sandwich.

YAY!!!!! We have finally made it through 11 days of Disney Deluxe Dining. I had read so much about Kona so we thought it would be nice to go their for our last breakfast. The meal was good but I don't know if we would make a special trip over there and their are other places I would like to try, so good but not memorable. I got the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes with ham and this was very yummy but way way way too much. I only made it through about half before throwing in the towel, I recommend splitting this.
DSCF4576_0053.jpg

I also got the French Press Kona Coffee which I thought I would have to pay out of pocket for, but they allowed as part of the meal plan:banana: The juice also was very good and tropical
DSCF4575_0055.jpg

DH got the Steak and Eggs a usual for him but hey...he liked it enough said.
DSCF4577_1_0052.jpg

After breakfast we walked around a bit and before leaving made a trip down to Capt. Cooks for one last Dole Whip before leaving :dance3:
:dance3::yay::dance3::yay::dance3::yay::dance3::yay:
We had saved snack credits to do this and then went and sat by the pool, which wasn't open yet so don't worry we weren't pool hopping.
Poly has a beautiful pool and beach area and I feel that it would the one deluxe that I would like to stay at in the future.
DSCF4582_1_0046.jpg

We returned to POFQ to pack up everything and because we had an evening flight we went to Earl of Sandwich for a late lunch. WOW this place was supper yummy and a must for any trip. Great use of QS. I also had the EarlGray Lemonade and that needs to be bottled and sold everywhere.
DSCF4605_0017.jpg

Mine was The Original 1762 - fresh roasted beef, cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce and now I can't remember what DH got but I think it was the club. THis is a return to in the future.:goodvibes

Enjoy and I will be back for a recap discussion of all the places to sum up and talk about the meal plan.:cool2:

Your review was really fun to read and it sounds like you two had an awesome honeymoon! We ate at California Grill and watched fireworks on the last trip and ordered many of the same things you did.. we loved it all too! Your review of V & A was really thorough and makes me want to go there even more... someday! :)

Just read your review, start-to-finish and loved all your info. The Victoria and Albert's Chef table is a dream of DH's but I've always been too chicken to try it, as I have some definite dislikes of certain foods. Glad to know they were so accomodating and that you still enjoyed your experience, discerning tastes and all!!

I'm so sorry you didn't enjoy Jiko!! We loved it during our trip last January. We lucked out and got Shellie, a server that has a fabulous reputation here on the Dis and she was AWESOME! It was by far the best meal of our trip. BUT I understand totally how you feel about putting a less than favorable review up of a Disboard popular restaurant. We ate at Narcoosee's and just didn't get what the big deal was. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing, maybe it was our server, maybe it was because we were so impressed with Jiko the night before that there was no way for it to live up to our expectations. I'm glad you shared your experience! Good or bad, Disers wanna know ;)

I hope you are enjoying your newlywed year!! Time flies !

Thanks again for all the great reviews!!!

what a great thread. Tinkfan10, my DH and i read through every page last night while we ate our dinner :) You've got some great photos and even better reviews! i adore reading about the Chef's Table - it really does look like a wonderful experience.

Oh my, your review of Jiko sounded exactly like our experience in Sept. 2008. I thought our servers name was Oscar, but maybe it was Omar, because we were treated exactly the same way. And our impression of their mac and filet matched yours exactly. We were so disgusted with our server, that we did not order dessert because I couldn't bear the thought of adding to our total bill...thus adding to his tip.

wonderful reviews and photos....some how our photos made me drool......Thanks for taking the time to do this for all of us

WOW sorry I have been away so long. I can't tell you how excited I am that people are still reading my review:dance3:. I have been such a DISBOARD fan its like a family:grouphug:

Important things I learned in being here for a while and in posting a review:

Remember that just because one person doesn't like a restaurant or has a bad experience doesn't mean you should write it off or change your plans. Magic may happen for you:wizard:

If you are celebrating something at Disney especially with their current theme let them know and make a big deal about it. We never went in to any location expecting :wizard: but when it happened it was wonderful and made it that much more memorable. Pixie Dust is not always a given and doesn't happen everywhere but I think our hats helped us many times... everyone that saw us knew we had just gotten married and many even thought we had gotten married on property.

Be careful if you show the magic to someone that has never been exposed to it....I fear I have created a Disney Monster in my husband....he already is making lists of the must do's for next time starting with PUSH and DEVINE (both were missed this trip, while we tried to find them). In all my years I don't think I have visited as many characters as I did this trip because DH had to meet them all and is still bummed that he missed Chip and Dale:laughing:

Food that DIS helped me find that I highly recommend:
Funny they are all snack credits:banana:

The Cookie Sandwich at Mainstreet Bakery...OMG:cool1: that thing was out of this world....a must and I think a start of a tradition during spectromagic.

DOLE WHIP...this I already talked DH's ear off and its funny that just the other day he said "you know what sounds good right now...Dole whip" :rotfl:
Remember found in two locations: Adventureland and Poly in their food court.

Mickey Cake from Boardwalk Bakery....one of the best uses of a snack credit and so good that I went back on our last day for another one:upsidedow Yes you can share them but after one bite you won't want to.

Zebra Domes from AKL: you can get them at BOMA's Dinner or as we did at MARA in their take out. Indescribable Yummy little bites of heaven.

Grey Goose Lemon Slush in France----hot summer day and this drink:cheer2: I will dream of these until next time...warning...not on meal plan

Now for our favorites and the places we are putting on our list for next time:

Favorite Breakfasts (TS): BOMA and Crystal Palace with Norway as a runner up....there is no rule that says the grown ups can't eat with the Characters
Lunch/Dinner (TS): Artist Point, Flying Fish, Le Celliar, and Cindy's Royal Table
QS: Wolfgang Puck Express and Earl of Sandwich

Over rated-(won't be going back)-Kona, Jiko, and Biergarten

Deluxe Plan: This is ALOT ALOT ALOT of food and I know unless you have experienced it you may not think it is (that was us) but really it is a lot of food popcorn:: You are eating all the time and snacking is more an after thought. Snacks that made a difference were the juice bars and frozen lemonade/cokes to keep you cool without being heavy with dairy or more food. In the future we plan to stay with the regular Dining Plan and pay for a meal or two out of pocket and to pay for any snacks we may want in addition to the one we would get...which I think will be plenty.

Places we want to try:
More QS (especially if we do the regular plan) like Sunshine Seasons and some of the QS in World Showcase and MK

Instead of eating at HS go to Beach Club or Boardwalk....lunch at Beaches & Cream would be nice to get away from the park
However, in HS I really want to try Starring Rolls especially after reading more reviews here.

Return to at a different time: Tusker House and Boma we did breakfast but I really would like to go back to Boma for dinner.

New Fireworks location: We loved California Grill but compared to Artist Point and Flying Fish it didn't carry over...we would love to return but next time we want to try Narcoossees for a different view of Wishes (or the new show)...this will also allow DH to have a seafood location again to try.

Out of this world experience: VICTORIA and ALBERTS this will be a must do on major anniversaries and we plan to try for the dining room then after time I would love to do the chef's table again....this dinner was the best experience and a memory that will always stay with us.:goodvibes
It will be interesting to see the new changes in the MK as they start to redo Fantasy Land...there are alot of new places that sound like they may be good new dining options to try.

I will continue to follow the Dis to see what stands out...for example....MICKEYNICKI after your review how could I have missed the cinnamon rolls at POFQ  so want one of those.
Also...a major dream would be to go the Food and Wine Festival...that looks like it is right up our alley.

Okay...this is alot to read so sorry it was long...I wanted to be complete...again if there are any questions about where we ate ask away and good eating to all of you.
