Hello!

What are the chances we will get Disney Hilton Head in the summer? We are at the 7 month out point and it seems impossible to get a week there. It is discouraging because we keep calling and we can maybe get one day in a studio. It is a 15 hour drive for us, so for it to be worth it, we were looking for at least 5 days. We are so bummed. Does anyone have any tips?

Thanks!
Michelle

I just had to respond-whenever I hear HHI, my ears perk up-we love it there. I don't know if you have kids so school might be an issue, but if you can't get a summer-time reservation, consider September or October. I've had several CMs there tell me that they love October the best-still warm enough to swim, not too hot, low crowds both on the island and at the resort.

We do have 2 kids (5 and 7). That's why we are shooting for summer. It looks so nice and relaxing there. We will keep trying. Thanks for your input!

When I wanted to go to HHI for the first time, I was still teaching. Since nothing was available for the weeks I asked for, I said I would take any M-F within the two month period I could travel. I got the very last week of my two months. I think the two bedrooms book last, so maybe that helped. After that visit, I knew I was going to buy points there to have my 11 month window. If you can go other months than just summer, do it! My son went in October one year and said it was perfect. We went last year for Thanksgiving and the weather was in the 70's and 80's. I have been in March one year and it was freezing, but so what? It's a great resort anytime. Good luck!

We do a cash reservation to get in. This worked last year and this year. I have a mid August ressie and have a 2 bed room. We then use some points for the stay maybe 2-3 nights and then do the rest On gift cards. We called at the 11 month date for cash and could not get in but I kept calling and got 6 nights about 2 weeks later.

We had a spring break trip to HHI with our three kids (10/11/12) and it was an incredible trip, even in March. Water a bit chilly, but that didn't keep the kids out. We had no trouble getting reservations 7 months out for spring break.

Unfortunately, because it is so far north, HHI has a short season and summer is the peak. We have visited there in June and July, but that was years ago.

You can only try. A two bedroom is your best bet. Good luck.

We were able to get a studio in August 2010 at our 7 month window...for a full week starting Sat. - Sat. I called at EXACTLY 9:00 that morning. I have heard that a lot of people only want to go there Sun-Thurs to conserve points so it's easier to get in there sometimes if you start your ressie with a Fri or Sat start date - then you can snag the entire week before the Sun-Thurs people call. Good luck!

you would have to get VERY lucky, and I really have no idea why. I live here and I gotta tell ya the Dis resort here is not all that and it's FAR from the beach. also, there are many choices in RCI for hilton head and at least one in Sea Pines, all of those are on the beach, go to the website and check those out.

We've booked a studio for one week the past two years at the 7 month mark. Both trips were the last week of August.

I booked a 1 br 7 months out for the summer. The first time i tried it was full - called at @ 10:20. Tried again at 9 and got it. There were no studios avail an didnt ask about 2 br as too many points for me.
