Disney has the gall to charge FULL PRICE for Theme Park Tickets while offering a fraction of the normal experience?!!

I am really looking forward to going in November. I said just this morning that when I think of our trip I think of sipping my morning coffee on the balcony of our Riviera Resort room and watching the skyliner. I don't feel as anxious about getting in all we want to do. Other than Hollywood Studios it sounds like we can take it a more relaxed pace. I am willing to pay full price for that. I do however hear what you are saying but, we do want Disney to stay open so I am willing to do my part. I will throw my money at them if it helps keep the gates open.

Nope, not Disney news or rumors. Opinionated and much better fit for theme park community board. Threads are moved all the time to more appropriate places. If we allowed everything on every board there would be no need to have more than one topic board.

Does anyone else think it is inappropriate for Disney to charge full price for roughly a quarter of the normal Disneyworld experience? At the very least it seems like they're taking advantage of people and sadly it will probably hurt them as a business in the end. It resembles a "bait and switch" scenario.
I would like to see them reduce some prices but it does NOT resemble a "bait and switch" scenario. They have been very forthcoming on what is closed and what is available.
but NOT for me, thanks.
I, too, am disappointed that there are no shows and fireworks and I love the buffets. Hoop Dee Doo is a must see for me each trip. But I'm going in September. I am fully aware of what is going on in The World and I really want to experience it.

I'm glad you are not going. You would be miserable.

I agreed with both camps. For DH and I, the items closed are important to us, thus we aren't going in Nov. But for those that want to ride tower of terror 15 times in one day, sounds like a great time to go.

As far as Disney offering a fraction experience for fraction of the costs- we utilized the annual pass and annual pass discount on rooms (40%). So I felt the limited experience (which was fantastic) was worth the discounted cost. Regarding food - paid and ate full price - worth it as well as no limited experience. Merch was 30% off For AP and DVC!

I was looking forward to my July trip, but we decided not to go because of the rising number of cases in Fl. Before that, I was so desperate to leave NY and get away for a bit that I was prepared to not even go to the park and hang out at the resort all day. But at the end of the day it wasn’t worth the risk for us. And Disney doesn’t think it’s worth the risk to open at full capacity. If it wasn’t for having extremely little kids, I’d be there in a heartbeat pay whatever they want to get into the park, even if it meant not getting the full experience (like waiting hours to ride one ride).

Most of us have wonderful memories of past WDW vacations and are desperate for a bit of normalcy and joy right now. So it's understandable that some people might flock back to their "Happy Place". However, what Disney is offering right now at FULL PRICE does not even come close to the pre-shutdown experience. (No fireworks, no parades, no Buffets and very few restaurants, no shows, no park hopping, no character meets, and many closed rides). Additionally, in order to go to WDW you must sign a waiver saying you will not sue Disney if you contract Covid-19 while you are there! Hmm, sounds like a true bargain... but NOT for me, thanks.

No parades but the cavalcades are great and you don't need to stake out a spot an hour in advance
no Buffets but honestly, who cares.
no character meets but the characters just pop up at random which to me is more magical.

As others said, don't go if it's not worth it to you....we aren't (also because travel risk).

But curious how much data Disney is collecting during this about what is the minimum they can get away with offering and still have people come. They have been cutting things for quite a while leading up to this... think when things go back to 'normal' there will be some experiences that will be lessened or gone.

Can you imagine if half a year ago, someone said, how much would you pay if Disney offered a 10 hour unlimited fastpass pass to almost every ride in a park, waiting 5-10 mins for most rides and maybe 30 mins for some major headliners. People would be screaming OMG, TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

....OP, what other time of year can you jump on EVERY SINGLE RIDE in any given park in less than half a day? Here are some of the NON-EXISTENT queue lines:

...funny how everything has a way of equalling out....just saying.

Exactly--to me it's basically like getting a free VIP tour, which I could never have afforded at the rates Disney charges for those.
