Disney has (or plans to) remove just about every on property perk we cared about

We are another family who has stopped the yearly trips to Disney and taken vacations to other places. We were a family who vacationed 12 straight years onsite at Disney from 1993 - 2004, when our kids were young. Along with visits years prior as children ourselves and also after marriage and before children we have been lucky to vacation there many times.
However, in 2004 my DH hit a wall with Disney and several things that had changed. The bloom was off the rose. :guilty: We use to do the "Walk In Rate" at resorts, buy reasonably prices AP tickets and use them 2 years, and often drive down to Florida to save money. DH wanted to see more of the "real world" and not just "Disney World." He got tired of the crowds and doing the same thing each vacation. So in 2006 we purchased a Marriott timeshare with our home resort the Marriott Grande Vista, 7 miles from Disney Springs. Now we had the option to visit Disney or trade into other world locations and keep both of us happy.

Gone are our yearly trips. Now it's every 3, 4, 5 or this trip 6 years between visits. Each has been for a special birthday, or occasion, this one to go with all the grandkids for the first time! :grouphug: We still do stay onsite when we go, (rent DVC points) but we are much more interested in traveling to other locations and back to Europe. Our planned 2020 trip to Europe was a victim of the pandemic. :sad2:(Believe this or not, but our trips to Europe were far less expensive than our trips to WDW!)

Disney has become a vacation for the elite. So many things now have an up charge that didn't before so we will not visit as often as our life situation has changed and DH is retired. However, Marriott does have a location just outside of Euro Disney, that would keep both DH and I happy! :love2:
