Disney guests steal golf cart

Do you really believe that 'thought' had any part in that stunt?

Wonder if alcohol as involved. Or was it just massive stupidity.

Hahahahaha... I'm laughing uncontrollaby at this article. As a person who drives an Epcot golf cart all the time, I can't believe that words such as "high speed" and "joyride" are in this article. I'm pretty sure my 8 month pregnant butt moves faster than our carts.

Best story of the day - thanks for sharing!

You can rent golf carts at Epcot???

And what boardwalk?

Regardless, I would say almost definitely an alcohol related incident.

Anyone else find it funny that the park with "the big golf ball" has golf carts?

No - carts are used by Cast Members to get around backstage. The fastest one I've been on went maybe 10-13 mph. Most only go 5-8 mph.

The Boardwalk is the resort that is connected to the back end of Epcot. If they grabbed the cart from behind the international gateway, they would just have to open the backstage gate to get on stage and go to the Boardwalk.

Oh, okay. Maybe high speed if the cops were chasing them on foot. :thumbsup2

I know the Boardwalk resort is there but for some reason I was picturing them inside the park. Makes more sense now.

I'm guessing that it was a cart used for Mousekeeping or a manager cart that someone parked near Boardwalk not a backstage item.

Also guessing that somehow alcohol was also involved in this "joy ride".

Well, it is the Orlando Sentinel which is inclined to exaggerate anything relating to Disney World.

But - to go back to some previous posts -

Obviously alcohol was involved. One guy had one beer, the other had two.

And as far as where the cart was, it was stated in the article that a restaurant employee parked it and saw the two guys take off in it.

So, no Disney does not rent golf carts in the Boardwalk area - these are used by employees.

I have driven a golf cart after a couple glasses of win, and it was super fun. I'd have called it a joyride!

(We didn't leave the golf course, though.)

How embarrassing to get arrested at WDW for something like that.:sad2: Can you get banned from WDW for something like this? And if so, can you imagine their kids: "We can't go to WDW because Daddy got drunk, stole a golf cart, went on a chase and was arrested!"?

Not sure what's more embarrassing... Stealing a golf cart at Disney and then getting arrested....or a man getting drunk off one or two beers!!!! lol

But those were the beers they had with them. No telling how many they had before.

Sure it was stupid, but it still made me laugh.

And just out of curiosity- how difficult is it to really be banned from the parks? I mean- in thinking about it, I did all the planning and booking for my husband. He never once showed ID etc. I'd imagine there are many ways around this.

i wonder what touring plan site they used for this.

1) grab fast passes for Soarin'
1) Ride Test Track standby
2) Consume several beers
3) steal golf cart
4) Joyride to Swan for lunch

I wonder if Touring Plans has an optimize option to add jail to the plan.
