I posted my favorite Disney GPS coordinates on my blog (Tom Keating Blog ) which will work with any GPS device. I created several file formats on my blog so you can import them. (i.e. Garmin, PocketStreets, OziExplorer, Magellan, Geocaching, and .CSV text/Excel format)

The exact blog entry is here:

If you can't import the files (such as a car navigation system), then as long as you can type the longitude and latititude coordinates in, you can just open the .CSV file in Excel and print it out, then type them into your car navigation system.

Of course, most of the coordinates are within Disney World parks, so unless you plan on driving your GPS-equiped car through the throngs of Disney pedestrians, I don't think this will be an issue. :smooth:

Some of the coordinates include some restrooms, restaurants, and even entrances to the rides themselves, which may help you navigator the park quicker (especially if on Mike's fast-paced Disney tour or other FastPass-centric tours).

Of course using GPS may not be useful for those of you that know Disney parks like the back of your hand, but very useful for those that can't read a map or for those that like their gadgets (I'm the latter).

I especially liked using the GPS to find my parked car after the mass exodus after Illuminations. I was one of the first cars out of there due to the use of GPS! :earsboy:

you can read my interesting blog entry about that here:
Disney World Blog Report - Dude Where's My Car?

Cool I left my GPS at home when I went, I had enough stuff to carry around.

Do you geocache? I was going to see if there are any virtual ones in the parks. I'm sure Disney wouldnt be thrilled with people hiding stuff on property.

I don't geocache, but it does sounds like a fun hobby.

I did read about this guy who has a geocache in Disney World.

http://www.shado.info/blog3/archives/2004_01.html

However, he writes "My Geocaching submission was rejected. The rationale for rejection was simple enough, the cache is located on a commercial site, specifically Walt Disney World. It turns out that the few Geocaches that exist in Walt Disney World were grandfathered in when the commercial policy was adopted"

So it looks like www.geocaching.com is no longer accepting commercial entities. I guess to avoid being sued. Bummer.. Maybe they should contact Disney and get an exception. It's a park - it's meant to have fun in. I don't see the big deal over planting some small miscellaneous items.

Anyway, he continues by posting his cache in his blog:
"However, it is a good cache. So instead of letting it die out, I'll publish the information here.

Cache Name: In the shade near Spaceship Earth
Location (Lat/Long): N 28° 22.588 W 081° 33.021 (WGS84)
Location (UTM): 17R E 446077 N 3139030
Location (General): Florida, United States
Hidden: 1/12/2004
Difficulty: Very Easy
Terrain: Very Easy"

So maybe there is hope for some geocaches in Disney after all...

p.s. I was using PocketStreets installed on a PocketPC for capturing GPS coordinates in the Disney parks.
