Disney gift cards

My kids received some Disney store gift cards and I was wondering if we can use these at the World of Disney Store in Downtown Disney or are they only usable at local Disney stores and the online disney store?

Wanted to use this for their souvenier money next month

I'm not sure about using that at World of Disney -- but I have bought Disney Dollars at the regular Disney Store using gift cards.

Disney Store Gift Cards are only good at a Disney Store. You are not able to use them at WDW, online or the catalog.
You may be able to use them to purchase Disney dollars though. Disney Dollars are as good as cash in the parks.

I was just told that you cannot buy Disney Dollars using a DS gift card (this was about 2 weeks ago at the Woodbridge Center Maill in NJ).

I thought about purchasing Disney dollars but it says in the back that it is not redeemable for cash.
