Disney Gift Cards

I'm sure where to locate this answer and hoping someone knows. We only have a visa debt card with a $1,000 per day limit and we are staying for 10 days on the DDP (about $1,400) at a DVC property. I like to pay a little here and there but it is all due on check it. Can I purchase Disney gift cards and use them to pay for the DDP at check in? I was thinking 3 $500 cards to cover the DDP. I hate to get a gift Visa because when it gets low it is hard to find a place that can read the remaining balance then let you know your balance OOP if your purchase is over. At least that was the way it used to be. Any advice on the best route would be great. Thanks for the help.

Yes you can you a Disney Gift Card to pay for the Dining Plan at check-in...you are also free to use multiple gift cards!

I just checked in using multiple gift cards to check in last week.

By the way, someone posted on the Budget Board that if you buy the gift card online at teh DisneyStore by going through the ebates portal, you will get 3% cash back on the gift card. I have never tried it so I can't report how well it works. Best of luck -- Suzanne

Ebates is a website that allows you to earn "rebates" through online shopping. All you do is sign up at ebates and then shop. You go through the ebate site to whatever site you are shopping on (i.e. go to ebates and then choose Barnes and Noble). They have thousands of shops -- all popular and big names. You make your purchase and a portion of your purchase earns you a "rebate" that gets deposited in you ebates account. Every so often, ebates will then send you a check in the mail.

I love the idea of being able to use gift cards to purchase the dining plan. We have a disney visa, and love to get our points, but spending all of that money at once can sometimes be a strain. Does anyone one know if the same can be done with MF's? Can they also be paid for with Disney gift cards?

Sure enough, over the weekend I got emails from Ebates stating that cashback had been credited to my account! Great! Now not only can I use my rewards on the trip (since I purchased the gift cards prior to going, rather than just using my card to pay while there), but I also got what amounts to a discount on the DDP! Woo hoo!

We tend to "stock up" on gift cards several months before our trips. We use them for just about everything. I'll give the kids $20.00 gc to spend per day. Works great. Also it doesn't seem like we are spending as much as we do because I look at it is already prepaid. If we have any left over we just use it on the next visit.

Glad to see we can use the gift cards for the DDP! We are headed to AKV in Jan. and I want to use GC's to pay for the DDP. Thanks Tracey for pointing me to the answer!!!
