Disney Gift Cards

I was wondering how many places take Disney Gift Cards. I have thought of purchasing some for our trip through our schools scrip program. Can you use them at most restaurants--counter service and table service?? How about Gift shops? Has anyone tried to use them? I don't want to buy them and not be able to use them up before coming home. Thanks for any advice you all can give me.

I used these and they worked out great. Everywhere in the world takes them but i know rainforest cafe did not. I highly recommend these.

We used them in February and we did not have any problems using them anywhere we went.

It's much easier than carrying a lot of disney dollars around.

I was thinking of getting one for each of our sons for thier spending money. Much easier than keeping track of their recepts or money. Do they work in most of the shops?

Does anyone know if they ask for photo ID when you use these. I was in our local Disney Store tonight and was talking to the CM at checkout about purchasing these for my kids before our next trip, and she mentioned that they may have to show photo ID but she wasn't sure. Does anyone know? Thanks!

No, there is no ID required to use a Disney Gift Card.

The DGC works exactly like a WalMart gift card - just present it to a CM when you want to pay for something, it will be swiped through the credit card reader, and the amount of your purchase is deducted from the card.

The DGC works almost everywhere at WDW - shops, stores, restaurants, eateries, carts, parks, resorts, Downtown Disney. Any Disney-owned venue that has a card reader will accept the DGC. Those places that are not owned by Disney, such as the AMC movie theater, shops in the Swan & Dolphin and Downtown Disney hotels, will not accept the DGC.
