Can you use target gift cards to buy Disney Gift a Cards online?

And if you have a Target Redcard as your primary payment method tied to your target online account (and then add the gift cards when you check out) you still get the 5% off. In the past month, I've purchased $600 worth this way.

I've been doing this also. I buy the Target gift cards at my local grocery store using my Amex Blue Cash card which gives me 6% cash back on grocery purchases, plus another 2% in fuel rewards. Then I use the Target gift cards on Target.com to buy Disney gift cards, saving an additional 5% because my Target Redcard Visa is my default payment method. Overall, I save 13% on each Disney gift card.

Wow. I don't have a red card and get close to 20% off at Kroger when they do 4x fuel points. I may consider buying target gift cards instead of Disney and using the target gift cards to buy Disney gift cards online. Of course I would need to get a red card. But between 6% back from Amex, 5% for the swim team, about 8% in gas savings, and 5% off from Target this is quite a deal if I understand it correctly.

If you use a Target gift card to purchase the Disney gift card, you don't get your 5% Red Card discount, right? So it would be pointless to buy a Target gift card and then turn around and use it to purchase Disney gift cards if you're not getting the 5% off...

That's not what other posters are saying above.

You DO get the 5% off as long as the red card is your saved payment method even when using Target gift cards to pay.

I have bought 2K worth of Disney cards this month using Target cards I bought elsewhere.

Someone please explain. Use the red card to buy target gift card and get 5% off, then use the target gift card to buy Disney gift card and get another 5%. Is this correct, you would get 10% off total?

No, you don't get the 5% off of Target cards and you have to use a debit card (not gift card) to get the 5%.

If you get prescriptions at Target, they will send you a 5% off your day's purchase. If you combined that with the red card discount that's a 10% discount on your gift card.

You can't do that anymore from what I've heard.

Seems like you can double dip by purchasing Target gift cards at grocery stores with fuel points and/or using credit cards with big cash back at grocery stores (like Amex Blue preferred) then having your red card as your default payment but using the gift cards to pay.

Depending on fuel perks, this can get big savings (I'd be close to 25%).

When the 5% discount was introduced you could split payment methods and get 5% on the whole transaction. About 2 years ago they changed it so you only get 5% on the portion you pay with a red card. I've seen it work this way both in store and online. Online I paid with a gift card that didn't cover my whole transaction. It will show as 5% off in your cart! but it adjusts when you pay. In store you'll see the whole amount, and then the 5% is taken off when you swipe the red card. The 2 payment methods are separate on the receipt.

Online, you still get the 5% discount if you use Gift Cards. In order for it to work, you have to have a Target.com account and you have to have a Red Card as your primary payment method tied to your account. When you check out, there is a box underneath your total to add gift cards as a payment option. I believe you can add up to three, but I used two different cards. I payed for my entire transaction with gift cards and still got the 5% off just last week and the only thing I bought were Disney GCs.

In store, you only get 5% off whatever goes on your Red Card, not on a gift card, so it doesn't work the same as online. And I have heard that the 5% pharmacy discount no longer works on entertainment cards but I have no first hand experience with that.

This was my experience the last three times I purchased online over the past month. I made sure my RedCard was showing as my payment method in order for the 5% discount to appear. Then I added the gift card(s) as payment. Even after checking out the 5% discount remained.

Just a heads up, Disney gift cards are currently labeled as unavailable online.

Thank you for posting! I was going to buy lots of Target cards tomorrow with 4x fuel perks - now I will buy 0 Target and all Disney!
I seem to recall that the Disney gcs go in and out of stock online; do you think this is normal, or is the party over?

I was coming here now to ask if it is normal for the Disney GC to go out of stock online? Has this happened before? I really want them to come back in stock... I was saving a lot of money buying them that way.
