I was thinking of using a DGC instead of carrying around a lot of cash at WDW. Just to verify, the DGC can be used at all gift shops and most dinning locations (except McDonalds, Rain forrest cafe, and jelly something or other)?

Are you talking about the Disney REwards Card that you can get through your VISA membership? If so, there is a detailed list of where you can spend those dollars. I'm not familiar with a "Disney Gift Card" per se. :confused3 As far as carrying around alot of cash...I don't blame you. Use a Disney VISA and you can earn Disney rewards for your next trip! We had over $200 on ours for our trip a month ago and that was wonderful

I'm going to buy the kids gift cards for our October trip. They can use them for snacks and whatever souveniers that they want to buy.

No, condorthb was referring to the new univeral Disney Gift Card, which can be used at the Disney Store, Disney online shopping sites, and at WDW and DLR.

The card is fairly new and can be bought at Disney Stores around the US, as well as at the Disney parks. It's like a WalMart gift card; it can be re-loaded over and over, has no fees for use or reloading, and can be replaced if you lose it (as long as you have the original reciept).

For the moment, the WDW resort computers are not fully tied into the gift card system, so you can't pay your resort bill with them. But you can buy park passes, meals, snacks, and merchandise in the parks, and in teh resort food courts and gift shops. The resorts should be tied into the system by the end of 2006.

I've got a DGC and I'm slowly adding money to it to save for my next trip, although I am also still getting Disney Dollars for my resort tab and the few carts that don't have card readers.
