I am taking the family to Disney World for Christmas... We are staying off site but I had seen on the Travel Channel about the decorations at some of the resorts. My son is in a culinary arts school and would love to go to those resorts and see the decorations... Is it okay that we go and visit these resorts even though we are not staying on site?

Yes definitely - you can go and have a look around. Maybe you could make a reservation at one of the restaurants too.

That's one of the best things to do!! We will be there Christmas week also :santa: (offsite also) and will be trying to see many of them!! The gingerbread houses are awesome. ENJOY!! :cool1:

What resorts have the gingerbread houses???? Thanks for the replies we can't wait to get down there!!!

Grand Floridian is one of the biggest and best.
Boardwalk is just beautiful and they have a gingerbread house AND a chocolate exhibition. The Christmas decorations there are just gorgeous.

From our 2007 Christmas week trip ...The "cozy" feel at the Boardwalk lobby near the decorations ...

The gorgeous tree in the lobby ...

Hi, can you get on a monorail from MK to the resorts? I've never been to any of the hotels before, but I want to check them out during Christmas..

TIA

The monorail will take you to the Grand Floridan from MK. Look at the signs. For the Beach Club and Boardwalk, it is probably better to take the bus or drive yourself. The monorail will take you to the entrance of EPCOT. You would have to walk through Future World to World Showcase to go through the back entrance. It is quite a walk. But if you are up to it, then you can walk to Beach Club, Yacht Club, Swan and Dolphin, then over the bridge to Boardwalk.

If you drive by car to the resorts, the check in guard will ask you what your purpose is at that hotel. Tell him and then he/she will give you a time in which you must leave. You usually have a two hour window. If you go by bus, then you can walk around freely. But you will have to go to Downtown Disney to go from hotel to hotel. The Boardwalk, Beach Club and Yacht Club is "together", so you can walk around hotel to hotel. Some of the others you would have to go to DTD to change buses to go to the next hotel.

Thanks for the info.. I am going to try and use DTD instead of trying to drive on depending on time and availability.... we can't wait to get down there.. My DS is very excited about seeing the gingerbread houses and my DW seeing the Christmas Decorations!!!
