Hello everybody,

This is my first post here and I was looking for some help. My wife and I have been to Disneyworld loads of times. We even went last December with my wife 3 months pregnant. We were toying with the idea of traveling to Disneyworld around December 20th and having Samantha's first Christmas there. Our question is first are we CRAZY? can it be done? if so any tips would be appreciated. We do realize that this will be the most laid back trip we have been on and dont expect to do anything but look at the sights and enjoy the park with our daughter--No Disney Commando. looking for things to do, and any tips about what to bring and what to do to make her have her first trip be a positive one. Thanks

You're not crazy. A first Christmas is about the parents, because she's neither going to understand it all or remember it. The youngest I took was an 18 mo. old. You already know what baby things you need to take anywhere else. For Disney add warm clothing for evenings and take the medicine cabinet. lol! Take Tylenol, thermometer, nail clippers, diaper rash ointment . . . any possible thing you might need. It's easier than having to hunt for those should she have a need. (unless you don't mind the highway robbery prices you will pay on Disney grounds)

We went when my daughter was 6 months old. It was a great trip! We stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Swan, also got a weekend in at HRH. Yes, it required more planning. Yes, it required a larger rental car! Yes, we had to mix formula and wash bottles. Yes, I would do it again!

We had a great time. It was completely priceless to see my daughter's eyes the first time she saw a character (Donald Duck was the first). She napped in the stroller quite well (we brought ours from home so that she was very comfortable), and that gave us some "quiet time" to enjoy.
Go- have fun. She will never be 6 months old again! And. . . soon she will be crawling--try to keep a baby who has just discoverd her mobility from trying to crawl everywhere!!

We took our Son when he was 4 months old. We brought our front pack to carry him on buses to free our hands for our Stroller and our 3 year old. The front pack also worked great standing in lines.

Good point nicdan- we had our baby sling with us and used that quite a bit. The other thing we had that we were really glad we packed was (can't remember the name of it, she is 4 now!) a round, bouncy type seat that zipped up with netting. She sat by the pool in that and played. I remember we brought an inflatable (very small) little pool that we put just a tiny bit of water in for her to splash (because I was afraid to bring her in the pool due to skin irritation). She enjoyed that a lot.

Well We took our first DD at age 9 months, it was a wonderful trip even though she caught a little cold, we went right after Thanksgiving. Everyone also thought we were crazy but I said it was going to be fine and it was!!! We then took our baby at 3 1/2 months old, it wasnt a planned trip very unexpected and we took our front baby sling and it was great!!! Here are my tips.........

.Lots of layers of clothing, Orlando is very wierd, were you can have high 80"s at noon but then drop to the 50's by the evening, I know I live in Florida!!!

Make sure you bring a comfortable stoller, one you can recline back for naps. If your baby will sit in a front sling then go for it, they get lots of interaction with everything going on that way, I did it with my baby and it was great!!!

Make sure you have all the supplies you need, Diapers, formula, babyfood, medicines and so forth!!!

Make sure you take advantage of the Babycare center they have at the parks, I did for breastfeeding and changing diapers, This helped so much. You arent fumbling in a restroom with a stroller and bags and well I know it gets hectic, You go to the babycenter and they have lots of changing tables, a room to feed your toddlers with lots of high chairs and small tables and a very quiet room full of rocking chairs for breastfeeding!!! I know how finicky a 6 month old can be and this will be a good break from all the crowds and stuff, They also have a microwave for heating bottles up and a fridge as well!!!

Also I think you have the right attitude of your expectaions for your trip so enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!! We will also be doing the same, I will be arriving X-mas day with hubby and my two princess's 4 years old and 19 months at the time and everyone says OMG its so crowded and stuff, but this trip isnt a I have to do and see everything trip its a Family spending time together and relaxing trip!!!

Christmas is beautiful at WDW and you will have a great time exploring the other resorts and all the decorations!!!
Have fun!!!

PS. ( this is only from my personal experience)
If you can and its not alot of trouble, and since your little one is so young, Bring your own pack and play!!! My DD caught a cold her first day there it wasnt bad but we used there pack and play, it was a bit dirty and well just not what I would have liked, and I dont know if they clean it after every use but just to be on the safe side, You might want to ask the others here about it for further oppinions but I always travel with mine but again I drive there. I would not want your little one getting sick on your trip!!! Just something to think about!!! Have fun planning!!!

If not bring some lysol to kill al does germs away and lots of purell!!!!
