My wife's boss and the owner of the flower shop where she works part time just got back from an FTD conference in Orlando. Part of the conference included a tour of the WDW florist facility along with a visit to the WDW Wedding Chapel. During the tour, they were told how many thousand wedding a year that they do at WDW.

The biggest surprise to them is just how many people want to get married or renew their wedding vows on the Disney Magic and Wonder. They have been overwhelmed by requests and are apparently in process of focusing more on servicing those types of wedding.

Good news for any of you who are planning the big event on board a Disney cruise ship.

You are not allowed to take the flowers off the ship though.
There is a $!00 fine if you are caught!

I was told that it is OK to take cut flowers off of the ship (after my wife left a beautiful arrangement that I sent her from Shirley's Perfect Gift shop), especially if they originated at Port Canaveral. However, you are most definitely not allowed to take live plants off the ship.

Perhaps they might use silk flowers for weddings performed on the ship. I knew that I should have insisted that my wife attend that seminar.

My daughter will be married on Castaway Cay on Sept 16. We made all silk bouquets and arrangements so that everyone would have a keepsake, and also because DCL couldn't guarantee the color of roses she wanted (lavender). We will still use Disney's bouquet as a table decoration at the reception, and she will "toss" it (to the next prospective bride). She (or whoever catches it) plans on taking it off the ship. We were also told that cut flowers could be taken off, but to check with the agriculture guy at customs, and let him know that she had it. It's important to a lot of brides to keep it for many reasons, but one DCL bride that I talked to said they were going to honeymoon at the World, and had a photo package purchased there, and she needed her bouquet. They let her take it off the ship.
When we booked DD's wedding, the prices were much lower than they are right now, and they offered more "goodies". It's a bargain compared to having a huge wedding at home....plus, I get a cruise out of it!
I'm guessing the price hike means that DCL knew they had a good thing going.

We asked at guest services last year about Mom's carnations and they said "NO!" so we left the flowers.

I "accidentally" packed the rose bouquet I received from the Barnard's wedding in my bag......ohhh, I am so sorry, Mr. Inspector man, I just forgot it was there rolled up in my nightie!!!!!!!
