Disney Fitness Oz Style

I don't know what I am going to do for a month without the gym! I do classes 4-5 times a week. DH has suggested that I should start jogging. Not too sure about that as I hate the treadmill.

Last year we were away for a month and I did not put on any weight, probably due to all the walking, but next year we will have free dining. All those desserts! I wish the dining plan would let you swap the dessert for a salad.

Like QuirkyButterfly, I too found the weight dropped off by watching what I was drinking. Just coffee or water for me, with the occasional milk shake (that I share with the kids).

I trained yesterday, a solid half hour with my trainer. It was more legs and abs this week as we decided to give my elbow a break (it's most likely tendonitis). I plan on walking this afternoon before taking my girl to athletics, then jogging/walking both Sat and Sun mornings. I really do feel confident that I'm back in the swing of things. My food was good yesterday too, low carb all day, no naughty extras.

another 2 and a half hr walk this morning
diet is good, thinking about letting go of the nuts as i think i am overdoing it a little, so ill just get rid of them all together (mixed nuts )

also im being sure to keep my walk outside in the sunlight as much as possible as i think this will help me as i spend so much time indoors
you know, vitamin d and all that

shower and off to work now

I do a 40 min brisk walk every evening. With only four weeks tomorrow to go I'm now adding a 40 min morning walk to my routine. I want to lose a couple more kilos before we leave, I'm being really good, no treats full stop so hopefully I will reach my goal and I won't feel too bad if I do add a few kilos on the holidays. I've been on a healthy living plan since February, managing to lose 14kg and 30cm so I don't want to go too far backwards on this holiday.

Does anyone know of any meal replacement/appetite supressant shakes that are actually tasty?

I'd give that a go, but I'm definately not going to force myself to eat/drink something that I don't enjoy.

I am pretty fussy, but I quite liked Celebrity Slim, from Priceline. Chocolate was by far the best, and from memory banana was the other one I liked. I only did it for 3 weeks as they made me too light headed, and the food options were not things I could eat long term. I lost about 4kg in that time, so it was enough to kick start my weight loss journey. I ended up doing Calorie King which is what worked for me.

Platypus67 Well done!

i can assure you bec
doing the shake thing takes great disipline
if you can get through the first day
by the second day you will be so hungry you wont give a damm what they taste like :scared:

you can lose weight fast this way but it is very hard to stick too
after one week of shakes only diet one time
i almost had a psychological brain melt whilst standing in line at the petrol station waiting to pay surronded by chocolate and lollies:lmao:

you will also need some pretty strong pain relief in the first few days

do you like mexican chilli con carne ?
ill type up the recipe if anyone is interested
it taste great and is good for you
you can also adjust it to your liking

:grouphug:

I tried CK, but couting calories just makes me think about food... all day! So I'm always hungry and thinking about my next meal, which is no good for dieting. So, no longer counting, just lots of regular exercise, knocked a few things out of my diet like chocolate (mmm, how I miss chocolate :rotfl:) and now thinking about apetite supressants so I eat less... Celebrity slim, I'll have to pick some of that up

I'd like to lose 5 kg's by the time I go away, and to be a bit fitter too. That probably means I should start TODAY! Just had lunch though so I can't start right now

jacs1234 I'm in the same position, I'd like to lose about 5kgs and get fit for the walking I'll be doing. I've tried the shakes and calorie king and haven't had much luck. I've started exercising, hoping something will work :)

After whingeing about not losing any more weight in a month even with running over 15km a week I went back on the Calorie King website today, I hadn't been on it for ages but it's really good to get an accurate picture of overall calories for the day...and I was over, due to the icing I 'tasted' (several times) while making cupcakes for my daughter to take to school tomorrow. So if you want a good reality check I'd recommend it, I find when you're exercising alot sometimes you underestimate the food you're eating (well at least I do).

And Heidi I didn't mean to copy your ticker! I just created a new one and then realised I chose the same as you!!

Aust, I agree! I hit my goal weight at the beginning of this year, then noticed I suddenly put on 3kg's. I too jumped back onto CK, and recognised that my breakfast cereal was full of sugar. I really need to read those labels. I also use exercise as a reason to indulge. I have been to the gym so I can have chocolate.

I have done WDW both ways - as a fit, trim me and an overweight, under active me and I gotta say - fit and trim ROCKS.

The trip I took in Sept/Oct 2009 I was 10kg lighter and was working out 3 times a week. I had a blast. No sore feet, no sore legs, up and bouncing out the door every morning and sleeping like a baby at night.

This trip I took in Sept/Oct 2010 - OH DEAR. After a dreadfully unsettled year I had stopped exercising and had stacked on 10kg. I R E A L L Y felt it. That's not to say I didn't have a good time, but my feet burned, I ran out of steam in the late afternoons and after about 4 days found it really hard to get up and at em in the mornings. And I didn't sleep as well for some reason. Probably the throbbing feet and thighs.

Experiencing this first hand has been a serious wake-up call. For Disney 2011 it's definitely back to the gym and lots of fruit and vegies. I'm not going to waste my money groaning over sore legs and hiding from the camera, and worrying about what I look like at the pool! Life's too short - and if all I have to do is move more and eat less, it's too easy.

This IS a motivating thread - I need to lose 10-20 kgs (okay, 20 really!) and we are thinking of a DL trip next year, which I know will be a lot easier without that extra weight.
I am so over not being able to buy any clothes I like, that fit anymore - so decided enough is enough!
I have resolved to get out and walk the dog for 45 minutes every morning (instead of his usual 'once round the block'!) and then work up to getting back into cycling again and running on the treadmill - my poor knees ache just at the thought of running at the moment with the extra weight I'm carrying!
So that's exercise..then there's food....
Hmmm.. we love our food in our house, so meals have to be good, even if I'm watching the carbs. We usually have dessert every night too (:scared1:) so I will stock the freezer with Zilch ice cream or something similar I think!
I did WW a while ago and they have some great desserts - but they were a little too good, IYKWIM!

Oh today was a write off. Started off with my dirty water flavoured shake and then for lunch we sat around a massive table of nibblies and jus ate and ate and ate. I had way too much salami and way too much dip. I tried to make myself feel healthier by smothering the dip all over a stick of celery :lmao:

And the kicker is that I am currently starving :confused3

xxx

all good here :cool1:

im in the zone :thumbsup2

spent a few hrs today cooking my healthy chilli con carne
i got some cheap capsicums so i thought id add a few to see if it worked
wow, its ok, but its much hotter now
i can handle it but the kids arnt too keen on the burning lips :lmao:

i stuck to my plan completely today
no treats no nothing

to lose 30 kg in 10 months
i need every day to be solid

no more excuses for me

:woohoo:

I tried one of the celebrity slim chocolate milk shakes today, it tasted pretty good, but it was not filling at all! And that's coming from someone who generally eats small meals anyway.

I'm going to try the next one with skim milk to see if it's any more filling, but so far I don't think it does much.

Also, due to Melbourne Cup today the gym was shut this arvo, so I didn't get to it... I love the Melbourne Cupb :lovestruc

Hey Bec, my cousin uses the shakes and has lost a bunch of weight - she makes the shakes easier to stomach and more filling by using a blender, putting in the powder and the water and adding half a dozen ice cubes on top, and then half a teaspoon of metamucil, which thickens it up a bit. Whizz it all together.

To vary the flavour (she only drinks chocolate so I don't know if this works for other flavours) she adds a few drops of peppermint essence (NOT OIL) to make a choc-mint shake or coconut essence to make a Bounty Bar tasting shake.

I've tasted them and they're not too bad. Although I don't think I have the willpower to have the same thing day in and out.
