Hiya, I was wondering if anyone has used Disney fine art photography for a bridal shoot before?

My fiance and i had planned Disney as our honeymoon but due to family issues we have cancelled our wedding at home in the UK and plan to get married now on our honeymoon december 2017.

So after a nightmare cancelling our wedding at home we are looking to do bridal portrait in Magic kingdom then Epcot at a cost of $2450.

We have burnt ourselves out at having planned our wedding already for it to be cancelled due to families that we just want something super chilled. So we were planning the photo session then taking ourselves off to the county-hall to make it official then when we are done just going about the park as normal then maybe doing a fireworks cruise in the evening for dinner.

I have heard good and bad things about the photographers at Disney fine art and obviously because it is the only thing we are doing i am a bit anxious spending all that money to possibly not be happy with the result. So just if anyone had any feedback on any specific photographers at disney fine art that would be great.

Thank you

Even with specific feedback on particular photographers, it is still a crapshoot since you can only request the photographer you would like, not select. You may end up getting someone you don't want, and that is the really big problem with Disney Fine Arts Photography. If one of the photographers has a style you love and another has one you hate, there is no way to guarantee you'll get the one you love and not the one you hate. Additionally, they have a whole editing department and the photographers do not edit the images themselves, so there is no way to control the final finish on your pictures.

That being said, we really enjoyed our AK and Epcot shoot and we really love many of our pictures. Joe did our pictures and working with him was really great. He was very easy going and got some great shots of us. The only real complaint I have is my hair was down and the wind picked it up at one point and created a bump that he and neither of the other two Disney CMs from DFAP said anything about, so many of my Epcot pictures are marred by this hair bump. Granted, I'm overly critical of it and multiple people have assured me it is really not nearly as noticeable as I make it out to be in most pictures unless I specifically point it out to them.

Bottom line, there are zero guarantees you'll end up with fantastic images and if what you receive is subpar, it is incredibly difficult to go up against DFAP to get some kind of resolution to the situation. You really have to push and fight hard. DFAP has really stepped up their game over the past few years, but they definitely still take terrible images. I don't regret doing our shoot at all and if we ever have the funds for it again, I would love to have more pictures done.

Thanks so much LadyD, from reading other threads from years ago i got the sense that they have improved their game because like you said i have seen some terrible images. Fingers crossed we can find one we like and hopefully get on the day. Its a shame because there is stunning ones on pnterest i would just love to show them the ones i like to recreate.

DFAP has Pinterest boards for most of their photographers, so you can get an idea of their style and who to request that way. Stephanie Caldwell is one of the most popular and requested photographers.

But I would not try to re-create specific photos—it's a recipe for disappointment. Besides, wouldn't you like to be the person with a totally new shot that others want to copy? :teeth:

I hope if you do decide to do it that you get some wonderful images! It really is such an incredible experience and a different way to see the parks too without all the people. A tip I can give to help make the most of your photos is to be yourselves! If the photographer is suggesting poses you don't like or don't feel comfortable with, speak up and ask for something else. Our favorite shots are definitely the ones where we're just being our normal goofy selves.
