Hi cruising this July on the Fantasy eastern and was wondering which side is better port or starboard?

We liked starboard, because the ship backed into Castaway Cay and we had a great view. But for St. Maarten and St. Thomas, we would have seen more from the port side.

Your mileage may vary as my experience was slightly different to ImTempest - we prefer starboard for the view of CC, and on our St Thomas day we also backed in meaning we had a view of the harbour from the starboard side (not sure if this is standard for Disney, as us and Emerald Princess had backed in, but Regal Princess didn't). At St Maarten technically the better view was from the port side but on that day there was ships parked either side which meant there was little to no view anyway.

We booked Starboard for the view of CC (even though it was a rainy, stormy mess on our CC day). We had the same ports/experiences as ivanp91 above - backed into St Thomas, nice enough view there, pretty junky view in St Maarten (shipping containers and the like) but we didn't really care on that day.

We prefer the extreme AFT-facing (i.e. looking straight out the rear of the ship) 5E cabins on the Dream/Fantasy (like 9174)- that way you have an amazing view of the ocean and terrific views of the cc and the ports that you back into as well.

Yes, same here! We love the starboard view at CC & St.Thomas. Beautiful! Due to a storm we skipped St.Maarten and went to Puerto Rico instead. I cant remember the view in PR to be honest.

Yes the cruise stops in Tortola. We have a choice between 11004 which is on the bump out port side or 12504 which is starboard and connected to the royal suite.

We are port aft for our Fantasy cruise in February, I haven't heard what the view in Tortola are.

What do port cabins in St Thomas look at?

We were port side on our Fantasy Eastern, and the ship pulled straight into St Thomas and we had a view of the marina and the island. In Puerto Rico we mostly saw the MSC Divina (LOL), but when she backed out we saw quite a bit of Old Town and the lovely architecture there. At Castaway Cay we loved being able to watch all the little stragglers come back to the ship at the end of the day. We ended up waving down to our tablemates as they were literally the last ones back on board!

I like port side. If you have an outdoor muster station you'll be in the shade in Port Canaveral and my family LOVES watching all the work on the dock as we pull in and out of Castaway Cay.

We've always nosed in at St. Thomas instead of backing in. Have had port and starboard. So far we've preferred port. You can see Cape Canaveral as you set sail, Charlotte Amalie Harbor and Philipsburg Harbor while docked and can watch the shore crew at CC catch the lead line as it gets launched in the morning. We've seen some real hilarity when they miss the catch and have to grapple it out of the water.
