Disney Fantasy Deck 6 Aft staterooms vibration concern?

Do people feel these vibrations in forward rooms, too? We're booked for next month in a mid-ship cabin, but after reading these reports are considering moving forward.

On the Fantasy, but not on the Dream? They're the same model...seems odd.

It happens more often then yould think, where 2 ships from the same class and built months apart, where 1 has an issue, and the other doesn't. (Where I work we have twin engine companies. They were built from the same blueprint, at the same time, side by side. We can see differences in how lights are mounted, and pipes and wires are run. )Sometimes a tolerance is off just enough or maybe someone tightened something more on 1 then the other, or 1 piece came in defective. Sometimes it happens. I think in the Fantasys case, since the vibration issue seems to be intermittent at best, the issue lies in a bearing set that they cant change out until drydock. Which most like will occur in 17 if I recall correctly. Otherwise it would already have been fixed. The Dream class props, if I remember correctly, have bolt on blades, so even if a blade was damaged or out of balance, they can remove it, and replace it in water.

Usually no. If your feeling a vibration in a forward cabin, its either the way a ship is sailing in the currents etc, or the bow thrusters. The bow thrusters are far enough forward though, and under crew only areas, that you shouldn't notice them. And even still its only in certain instances like coming into and out of ports, and not the entire cruise.

Mid ships, you should be fine.

I thought so, too, but the OP was deck 9 midship & even felt the vibration there on the Eastern itinerary (which we'll be on next month). The Fantasy must be in need of some mechanical repair- hope they fix this during dry dock.

Please know it was never an issue. It just happened to be there but was minor and did not bother us. I think midship was a great location and I really think you will be fine!!
 
We were on deck 7, 7188, on Fantasy in August 2014. This room is not at the very back, but just next to the corner. We felt vibration, but it wasn't bad. We actually liked it, particularly when sleeping. This was a WC 7 night. It would increase as the speed of the ship increased.
 
We were in stateroom 7164 which is very back on starboard side in August 2015 and did not feel much throughout the cruise. The only time we felt anything was the final morning when they use the lateral thrusters to moor to the dock.
 
Sailed the Fantasy Eastern on 11/5 of this year - cabin 7652 and yes - did feel vibration - i slept on the couch/bed; vibrations not bad at all. My sister had the main bed which at times was like sleeping on a washing machine from the vibrations :) - forget about putting head against headboard. Next cruise we will try mid-ship for sure!
 
We cruised this past October deck 9 aft (very close to mid) and found the vibrations very noticeable especially while leaning our heads against the headboard while watching tv. We actually placed pillows in between our heads and the headboard to act as a buffer. We have cruised multiple times on the Fantasy and this cruise found the vibration far greater. We have not noticed this on any other DCL ship.
 
We were in room 8644 on the Fantasy in 2014 which is aft. HORRIBLE vibrations , i couldn't sleep. Ugh We're on the Dream next year , I chose very forward rooms to hopefully avoid it.

As reported, the Dream doesn't seem to have the same vibration issues that the Fantasy has.

Great info. And yes, the Fantasy is scheduled April-May 2017 for dry dock in Freeport as part of getting her out of the water for inspection.
 
DCLs site is throwing a fit at the moment, (I'm on a call with their webpage people) and Ill pull my room numbers if and when they get their act together. But weve been on the Fantasy, roughly just aft of midships and never had an issue with vibrations. The only time Ive ever really noticed it was in Animators and even then I noticed it more in my water glass then actually feel it.Some of it is from the ship, and can even be some equipment running that may add to the sensation. but a lot of times, it comes from the way the ship is running at sea. Under the right conditions, the ship will vibrate ( for lack of a better term) more so then usual.

Now that I think about it, that seems late. Drydocks are supposed to be not more then 5 years apart. Her maiden was in March of 12. She was in the water, before Christmas of 11. I wonder if they go by the turn over date, which I think was Jan ish of 12. That part has always been a grey area for me for the very first dd.

Hopefully, they'll fix whatever is out of balance.

I'm fairly certain DCL knows exactly what the problem is. I'm thinking the issue is something relatively easy, but would take too long to fix in service, or needs a drydock to correct. If I had to hazard a guess, it might be either the thru hull bearings on 1 shaft, which requires a drydock for repair, other wise their would be a 5 foot hole in the bottom underwater, or one of the bearings in the strut that supports the shaft which is also underwater, but would still require the removal of the shaft. I'm pretty certain that they had this problem during her trials, and since they already announced her maiden, Christening etc, they waited for her 1 st drydock to fix it. Add to that the bad juju from when Mariah Carey tried to pass off the Christening to her husband, and I'm not surprised that there is a lingering issue.
 
The vibrations I was feeling were from something mechanical, not from the movement of the ship alone. I've cruised a bunch of times on several different ships., I've never felt anything like this. Just gave me the sense it was something mechanical, not normal ship movement , if that makes sense.

It does to me at least. Something like that could either be a generator, or compressor running that may not be properly secured, or having issues. Theres all sorts of support equipment all over the ship and yould never know its there unless you know where to look. The usual vibration that is noticed most likely is from the drive train on the ship. That was my guess when I noticed the vibrations in my water glass. It was too rhythmic to be much of anything else. That particular vibration can get transmitted through out the ship. It can also seem worse under certain environmental conditions and even worse if there is something mechanical running nearby also. We were in 8606 and 7548 both on the stbd side, aft and never noticed it in the cabin.
 
We were on the Fantasy in 2014, so I'm not sure if things have been fixed, or not. We had two different rooms (B2B) One was aft and the vibration there was horrible. Sitting in bed, with head against headboard, watching TV was a no-go. Think of the vibrating beds in a cheap motel, it was that bad.

Our second room was more midship. While the vibrations were less noticeable there, they were still present. And in Animator's Palate, I had a glass of water go "dancing" off the table (and mine wasn't the only one).

The vibrations were most evident when the ship was cruising at around 20 knots.

Reports of these vibrations in the aft of the Fantasy have been made pretty much since she entered service. If it hasn't been fixed yet, hopefully, DCL will address the problem during her upcoming dry dock.
Reading you post practically made my stomach turn, haha. That's the only thing on a ship that bothers me (makes my stomach uneasy).
