Disney Fantasy April 2, 2016 7D Western

Fran does your 12 year old daughter want to do the tween thing at The Edge. My granddaughter says she would rather do the other clubs with her 6 and 4 year old cousins. Can she do both and maybe she and your daughter could meet each other and be pals to go to the tween thing. She is a sweetie. Her name is Bryn. She was 12 in October. Deanna

Just as an FYI and peace of mind Disney is very strict about the ages for the kids clubs so you should not have any worries about that.

Though your granddaughter may be able to hang with her cousins in the Oceaneer Club/Lab, she may not have a lot of fun all of the time as the activities can be sort of age specific. That doesn't mean she can't do the activity with her 4 y/o cousin but she may not find it very fun. The other way around would be that the younger cousins may not enjoy the activities for the bigger kids because they may not be able to follow along, i.e. read, or understand what is going on.

My 10 y/o would much rather hang out in the Edge I am sure (she hangs out with the older kids of our group plus she wouldn't have to worry about her little sister hanging on to her) but she won't be able to go due to being shy by just a few months. Not that she won't find something to do that she enjoys, its just that she would rather be doing stuff with the pre-teens.

Just some thoughts. Take it as you wish.

Edge (ages 11-14)

Hey there Deanna,

I was helping out Lizzie for a bit with getting it all worked out on how to set it up with the lists as this is her first time being the list master (me too I guess). If I get time tonight I am going to work on putting this on a spreadsheet over on Google Docs and place a link for everyone to use to look at it. If not tonight then Saturday.

I live in Newnan so we are basically neighbors. :P If you have any questions just ask here or send me a conversation (instant message on other boards) and we will help out as much as possible.

-Tim
Thanks for getting back to me. Sorry to be so confused. My sister in law and family live in Newnan. The Brasses. They know everyone. Linda and Robert are the eldest. Sally and Rob Brass and three kids, and Matt and Meaghan Brass. He is running for state seat there. Great guy. Sally is a teacher and Rob is FCA person for the area.
That would be so helpful to have a different spreadsheet. I can't make heads or tails out of this one. Maybe we can get our 12 year olds together to go check out the tween thing. When can you register for the kids clubs? Deanna Where on here can you do a conversation?

Just want to make sure the spreadsheet gets updated accordingly. I'm in the yellow group: GREEK5 our Cabin is 6624 and our son (AJ, age 4) has a PEANUT ALLERGY. Thank you.

Do you know if a more updated spreadsheet will come out closer to the time of the cruise; as I noticed other family's staterooms are not provided as well. Thank you
Jessica
Thanks for the update on the allergy I will put that into the spreadsheet. I am still waiting for my stateroom (!) assignment so as those come in I will definitely update the spreadsheet and share that information :)

New to the board - so I may not get all this right!
Looking forward to our first Disney Cruise - but we're a Disney Family!!! Not sure if we're past getting into a FE group (I didn't even know what that meant until a week ago!). We just booked at 77 days out - so I guess we're hoping it all works out nicely!
Keith (45)
Deb (42)
Emma (12)
Cole (10)
We'll be driving down from Marietta, GA. We are in stateroom 10534, and have the main dinner seating (not even 100% sure what that means!).
Husband and I are celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary (later in the month - but close enough!). Daughter will be 13 at the end of April - so we're letting her join in the celebration, too.
<a href="http://www.***********************/"><img src="http://www.***********************/tickers/co0h3p9u19gefip4.png" alt="www.*********************** Ticker" border="0"/></a>
I will add you to the FE list. Have an awesome cruise!

Yes - I read it as each sheet is a different group. I think each has about 10 cabins (so about 40 people per group). My group is on the second page and has 10 cabins and 38 people. Does that help any?
Princess and Judie you have it right! We split the larger group into three smaller groups of about 10 families each, with each group on its own page.

OK...I have just read the new posts and Greek 5 said she was in the yellow group and cabin 6624. When I printed out the 15 page pdf attachment the other day, it has several sheets highlighted in yellow and one sheet in blue which is the sheet with our staterooms, 2548 and 2552 are on. I looked on the yellow highlighted sheet and don't see Greek5 or cabin 6624 on my yellow pages. What am I doing wrong? My granddaughter and I want to start planning things out but on the blue highlighted sheet there are listed staterooms 6118 Mandy Collins, 5046 Crazy4Disney Atlanta, 8518 Buckyfan10, and our two cabins. Need to delete cabin 2550 with the two other grandparents. So on the blue sheet we have 10 adults, 1 teen boy, 4 boys and 5 girls. If this is our group, will more be added? I guess you can tell this is my first cruise ever and I am 67 years old! I just want to get this figured out soon and I don't hear back from anyone. Crazy4 Disney Atlanta, where do you live in Atlanta? We are in Lawrenceville, Buford and Braselton. Deanna Simmons
I deleted cabin 2550 as you requested. I added another cabin to your group today but we will stop once we get 10 families or when we get closer to the date of the cruise. Sorry I couldn't get back to you right away but I only have time to check the thread once or twice a week.

Agree, thank you Lizzie308 for putting this all together. We are GREEK5; located in Cabin 6624. Some information about us as follows:
Hubby (Peter) - loves all things Star Wars (PERIOD)
Samantha (10) - favorite color is purple and basically likes ALL things; favorite show is Liv&Maddie
Alexandra (8) - loves all things Star Wars too. Her favorite is Rey and favorite color is turquoise/blueish colors
AJ (4) - PEANUT ALLERGY!!!!! Not a high case; just can't eat them but can be around, etc. LOVES STAR WARS too and absolute favorite color is ORANGE.

Guess my main question is: will the group do gifts daily and if not then will we assign days to distribute so everyone isn't passing out on the same day?

This is our FIRST Disney Cruise. We are ALL looking forward to it.
You are very welcome ! I updated the spreadsheet with your family's details...but you left off your own :)!!

Welcome Greek5.

The way we have done gifts in the past is to give them out on one day that we have time (usually a sea day) and just walk around the ship looking at everyone's doors and FE's. I really expect to do it the same way this time. We have never had a FE group that set a certain date to hand them out and as far as giving a gift everyday, we always left that for the individual person/room/group. My very first cruise about half the FE groups gave out something smaller everyday and the rest only gave something(s) once. Where as on our other cruise I think only one or two people gave out something small daily. I would like to leave it up to each individual to decide. Not everyone may have the money/time/talents to do a daily thing and I want it to be fun. :)

Of course this is Lizzie's gig and I will let her decide. This is just my thoughts/input. :duck:
I completely agree! It should be up to the individual to decide how often to leave gifts.

Where on here can you do a conversation?

If you want to start a conversation, the easiest way to do it is to click on the screen name and that will bring up a "pop-up". In that pop-up will be that persons short profile and one of the options will be a link that says "Start a conversation". That will allow you to start a private conversation with that one individual. It is a little more work to do one for multiple people but it can be done.

Go to your inbox in the top right and you can choose to view messages or start a new conversation. I have a 11 year old daughter and 12 year old son. My plan is to take them on the first day "open houses" to view both clubs (Tween and Oceaneer) since they can actually do both. I read on another thread that it was important to take them on the first day because that's when they (the kids) choose the activities that they want available in the Tween club for the week.

When can you register for the kids clubs?

From the official Disney Cruiseline Site:

Registration, Check-In and More

You may register your child for Disney’s Oceaneer Club either at the terminal or once onboard your ship. You can also pre-register online.
Upon boarding the ship on Embarkation Day, both children and parents must check in at the front desk at Disney’s Oceaneer Club or Disney’s Oceaneer Lab. During this time, parents will fill out final paperwork and children will receive a Disney Cruise Line Youth Activities wristband, which grants them access to both Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab. Parents are also invited to tour the facility, meet the counselors and learn more about the many activities offered. Please note that children must be fully toilet trained to be admitted to either facility.

Children with Special Needs
Children with special needs are welcome at Disney’s Oceaneer Club. While we are unable to offer one-on-one care, families are encouraged to speak with our Special Services team prior to arrival to discuss any questions or clarify participation guidelines.

Youth Activities Open House
Our Open House is an opportunity for Guests of all ages to participate in a variety of exciting activities hosted at Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab throughout the cruise. During these Open Houses, both facilities will still be available for those looking to check their children into care. Please check the Personal Navigator newsletter or Disney Cruise Line Navigator app while onboard the ship for specific dates and times.

I have not seen this time where to register them online yet. It may have been part of the pre-boarding stuff and I just don't recall doing it.

Just make sure that you get your child's wrist bands in the terminal before you get on the boat as it can be painful if you wait to do it later, lots of people and only a few cast members. If the line in the terminal is long just wait a bit and it will be empty. The new bands are nice and can locate your kids just about anywhere on the boat if they wander.

I have seen smaller kids wear them as anklets in case one of you feel it may be better and less of a chance to lose it. Last I heard a lost band was $18 and you can buy it as a souvenir for the same price if you want.

Hi Lizzie! Can a 12 year old participate in both the tween club and the Oceaneer, depending on the activity? (I was hoping my son could go back and forth between staying with his younger brother in Oceaneer or doing the Edge, but I thought he might have to pick one or the other - it would lighten my worry if he could do both.)

Yes, I think so! I agree that it would be nice for the tweens to be able to choose by activity- especially with younger siblings involved!

Great tips! Any must-see shows or Port Adventure recommendations?
I have liked all the shows I have seen! And I am not a broadway musical kind of girl! We did Atlantis on a previous cruise but that's the only port adventure we have done- now we use that time to lounge at the pool while everyone else is off the boat :)
