Disney Fantasy 3 day double dip.

I believe the most important reason is they can't open their shops in port.
Yes, but it is risky that if the wind picks up.............they may not be able to dock the next day.

Heck it would be terrible if they couldnt dock either day!

So if the ship is already docked, there would be no issue leaving no matter the wind (barring hurricane force obviously)?

There's always a risk of winds or currents changing, making it difficult to leave port. That's one reason DCL almost always backs into port because it's considerably easier to pull out forward. I do recall reading at least one occasion years ago when a ship (the Magic?) did get stuck at CC overnight because of weather. I believe it wasn't the most pleasant experience.

Enjoy your cruise!

It was February 2010 from what I remember.

Great use of concierge perks! Maybe we will see you around the ship!

Indeed. I booked a 1-BR concierge because it was an amazing deal when this cruise came out. I had been looking at this board because my wife and I talked about taking our family on a cruise sometime... This sailing sounded great with the double dip and short itinerary (just in case one of us doesn't like it), and I read about this cruse when it was first announced (thanks disboards!).

But... given that we have not cruised before, I'm getting a little worried that my family will have the wrong idea about what cruising is... Because I am pretty sure there is no way we would pay standard prices for a 1-BR concierge...

Three days will run by quickly. Three dinners, three dinner shows. Two days on a beachy island!

We are so excited for this cruise. 2 days at CC and getting to see the Fantasy again before our September B2B is gonna be awesome! See everyone on the cruise! Sounds like a lot of People on here are in Concerige.

We are on this cruise as well. We are bringing my mom with us. She has never cruised before, so I thought a 3-day would be a good introduction for her. We are spending 2-nights each at Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort & Disney's Vero Beach Resort before the cruise.

I really enjoyed my time at Vero Beach pre-refurbishment. A unique property. I hope you enjoy it! I'm sure we may run into on board!

I would think it would be a good savings in fuel expense, among other things, to just stay docked. I would think they would know far ahead enough regarding weather and currents to react if it were going to be a problem.

The last double dip I worked we asked why we didn't stay over night, we got told it has a lot to do with the marine life eating away at the outer layers of the paint on the ship. We thought they were joking at first but aparently not...I don't know how true this is tho.
That and then not being able to offer certain services while in port, like the stores...

I've only been on one cruise, a 3 night also. Pirate night was 2nd night. From what I've read on these boards that's the norm.

I'm on this, booked it opening day as soon as I saw it. Got one of the 4e's with the even more oversized oversized verandah :) Super excited!
