Disney Express on Eurostar. Worth it?

I think we'll do it.

My kids are kind of nutty about hotel rooms and we won't make it to the park until at least 4 if we check in at 3, probably later. They like to check out every detail of the room, unpack, etc. I want them tired out our first day so we can talk them into a nap the next afternoon before the Halloween party. 2 more hours in the park sounds good to me.

from my last trip where i had a 5 yr old boy and a baby in a pushchair, the express service worked for us. No hassle with dragging 2 suitcases and various other hand luggage behind you. Straight off the train and into the park for a few hours and then check in later. Twas great.

kids are older now and can manage their own luggage and the fact that our next trip is 6 days and therefore we will have plenty of time for the parks, im thinking just the return trip using the express service will be more suited for us.

Sorry to gate crash but having never tackled the Eurostar before I'm a newbie to this! Would someone mind explaining to me how Disney Express works please? Do you leave your bags on the train and they get taken to your hotel or do you need to drop them off at the Disney Express desk in the station?

I really wouldn't bother with disney express if I where staying at the DLH you have to walk past your hotel to get to the park anyway.

With disney express you have to take your bags up stairs in the train station take to the service desk, with your hotels name, give them your bags and they take to your hotel for you.
You also get your park tickets on the train.

I used the Disney Express when I stayed at the DLH in March but only because we had a bottle of wine in one of the cases and didn't think they'd let me through the baggage check with it!

Unless you're being naughty like us, you would probably be better to save the money and just check-in as soon as you as arrive. They will then hold on to your cases for you at the hotel and they will deliver them to the room for you when you get back from the parks!

it's normally £16 per adult if you are booking it separately.

If the Travel Agent is booking you a package deal then they will automatically add this on.

Most of the time it would still be cheaper for you to book the travel with Eurostar directly and then add the baggage service on, if needed. As the package costs tend to be a lot higher.

If you're just doing for the return journey part only, do you just do this at the hotel when you check in? Are you then given your luggage tags at this point or do you have to collect them later in your stay?

You dont have to do it when you check in ~ just any time during your stay. you write yiur tags when you check out and then leave your luggage at the hotel for them to take to the disney express baggage area inside the train station.

i don't think you can do that then - as the Disney Express luggage area is nowhere near where you will get the TGV at the DLP station.

There are luggage lockers inside the train station, so on our last day we take our cases down to the train station in the morning, put them in the luggage locker room, then just pick them up when we're going to catch our TGV later in the day. The largest locker in the luggage room is 10 euros for the day, and will easily take 2 large cases plus bags. There are 2 sets of smaller lockers too, at cheaper prices.

Looks like we'll be taking our own luggage to the hotel... this really doesn't matter to us though, we were planning an afternoon tea in Cafe Fantasia anyway!

May well use the service for the return journey though, so that we can enjoy our last day in the park

I'm going to book the Eurostar to get us to Disney but we are flying out from CDG so would only need it one way.
The only thing that concerns me is that our kids will be 2 and 6 and we'll have all our luggage from our whole 3.5 week trip away with us including the umbrella stroller for the small guy - this bit of the journey I think is going to be the most awkward but I'm not sure if its worth paying 32 euro to have our luggage taken for us!

We had it on our first trip as we booked an entire package, but not any other stays as we've always booked Eurostar separately ourselves. We discovered it's much cheaper that way.

We've not missed it, but we have always stayed in the HNY so not a long walk to go and dump our bags at the hotel. I might consider it if we were further away.

For me it depends on which hotel you're staying at and for how long; we didn't bother when we stayed at the Cheyenne for 4 nights as we knew that we'd have more than enough time to do everything we wanted to do. If we were only staying 2 nights then we would use it. However I'm not convinced of the benefits of using it when staying at one of the closer hotels like the New York - it's only a 10 minute walk from the station to the hotel after all.

What is worth doing is getting the bags taken to the station at the end of the trip - when we went in February it as about 11 euro's per room and saved so much hassle.

thats the thing though - during the day, when the Eurostar arrives at the DLP station, the shuttle buses going from the station to the hotels aren't busy at all - all the guests are heading into the parks, not out of them, at that time of day. So theres no problem hopping on the shuttle bus to your hotel with your cases/buggies etc then.
