Disney ending distribution of Disney Catalog

Im tired of them ruining everything - I LOVE getting the Disney catalog - we collect them, too.

Wow. Well, unfortunately time passes, and you know what they say, "All good things must come to an end." I use to work for The Disney Store, when Disney owned it, and I was bummed about them closing my store. And I just knew that something else would happen, like there was one more shoe to drop. I thought the other shoe dropped when Disney sold off The Disney Stores, but I guess I was wrong...there was one more shoe. :(

This bothers me. My fiancee always love getting the catalog, especially since they started putting the Disney Home items in there. We just bought a house and have been adding a lot of Mickey to our decor. I realize that we can still go online, but it's not the same. Bummer...

Many folks have no problem buying online, but would never visit the site if not for those catelogs.

Don't be surprised if it is replaced by a smaller, less catalog like, mailing. Many of the folks who shop on Disney's online site are not the type to check without being reminded or given the incentive to by an advertised sale.

I'm one of those people. If not for their sales I would never buy anything there.

This will be the end of a tradition for me--whenever I got a new catalog, I would look at it with my niece--when she was little, she would just point to what she liked, then she would circle the item, now she writes her name on it. I'll miss doing that with her, looking at stuff online just won't be the same.

You described me to a T. I forget to check the site until the catalog comes. And unless Disney fixes their dang lag issues on the site, not to mention improving their zoom features & such, I may be hard pressed to continue shopping from their site online.

I prefer online shopping, but I don't feel like I get as much of an indication of what the product is like with their tiny product photos! Plus, not every item on there has the zoom feature, nor can you make the photos larger.

:sad1:

We enjoy the Disney catalog.

We used to have 2 local Disney Stores but one closed. I keep hoping our remaining store will stay open. I do shop online now and then, though I still like getting the catalogs and shopping in person at The Disney Store.

First, the Disney Magazine, now the Disney Catalog.

What's next? Disney Adventures?

the catalog is what made me visit the website, and I placed my order online. oh , well. but now the call center people are losing jobs.

Oh no!!! My adult DD will be absolutely MORTIFIED!!! She never really looks on-line and I don't either.. :(

Sad to see it go, I usually look online after receiving the catalog.

Well as the article said, this is a very short sighted move on Disney's part. Part of a long line of short sighted decisions made in recent years by Disney's management. I have bought everything I have ever purchsed from DisneyShopping (or whatever they are calling it this month) online. However a good 80% of those purchases were catalog driven. My wife is not very internet savvy and won't shop online unless prompted. However she would, on numerous occasions, find something in the catalog, and tell me about it and I would go an order it. I think this move will end up costing Disney more sales than they are aware of. As a stockholder, this is pretty disapointing.

I wonder if this is a pre-Iger decision or one that came about after he got the job...

agnes!

Oh, that is just stupid!

I'm one of those who never just goes and browses the disneyshopping.com site. I get the catalogs and if I see something in one that I want, I do go buy it online. But, I never would have bought anything if it weren't for the paper catalog. Major loss.

The Disney Catalog is my kids' Sear's catalog that I had before. With them closing a great deal of Disney Stores and now this my motivation to buy products will greatly decrease.
