Disney Early Morning Magic - Details & Prices

Seriously, just waiting on dates. My trip isn't too far out and I'm hoping hoping hoping that this won't start til after our trip, cause I have a PPO ADR at BOG, for the extra park time and such.
I would think that we will not stop people from making early reservations at either BOG or crystal palace, they should still let them in, otherwise they would also be losing those sales, so it would just be a wash and wouldn't really generate any more cash flow. I'd guess that they will still let early morning adr in, just wouldn't be able to ride any rides-scanning Magic bands would be how they determine gets on the rides, same as they do now for parties, they done necessarily right at 7 start forcing everyone out of the park, but without a party ticket and magic band scan u aren't getting on any rides.

If this works out well, now will be the time it will be the cheapest and with the lowest number of tickets sold. Over time they will increase the price of tickets and the number of tickets sold. Rope droppers will be walking into a half full park in the future.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I believe that these extras always tend to start small and then increase to meet demand until everything is just as crowded as before.

With these paid hours, during Christmas or July 4th week, the park could reach capacity at 9 AM.

With parks crowded even more, far sooner than before, they could also push the selling of a 4th and 5th fast pass

They might have capacity to sell some FPs in the MK during less busy times, but not in the other parks, and not during peak crowds. If they wanted more capacity to sell, they needed to be rolling out a lot more attractions in recent years.

As for the evening hours, it includes park admission, right?

Not exactly. You can enter the park at 7 pm and the three extra hours begins at 10:00. So you don't get a full day, but you do get six hours. The difference between this and the early morning is that regular guests do not have to leave the park. They can't ride and won't get the free ice cream, but apparently they can stay for dining and shopping.

If this works, I wonder if they will make it a standard practice every night in the busy season.

A ticket for the early hours, a ticket for the normal hours and a ticket for the late hours!

Also these special hour tickets will be tiered in price, no doubt, due to which season.

We do pre-park BOG for photos mostly, and because sleeping past 6am is a dream my heart would make were I ever fast asleep (toddler life), so why not.

Pre-park exclusivity would appeal to me if special characters were part of deal - Pinoochio, Jimminy, and Gepetto in this case.

Well technically the morning one is an addon since the site says its required to have a standard ticket as well when you use it.

sure for now. but what about down the line?
you can't say with certainty that EMH will not go away.
And you can't say with certainty that they will go away. So why are we worrying about something that might/could/maybe happen? As a mentor of mine once told me, "Worrying about tomorrow robs you of today."

No competition simply means higher margins. They can charge higher prices BECAUSE there is no direct competition driving the prices down.

6 Flags? Not even in the same ballpark. Cedar Point? Closer than 6 Flags but still miles away.

Universal is the one that comes closest to being direct competition but even that isn't very close. 2 selections vs MK, EP, AK, HS, TL, BB, WWOS, and now Disney Springs.

I see people complaining that this will ruin their PPO ADR or RD plan. The park has always been open to everyone with a valid ticket at park opening but most people just don't show up. It is in Disney's best interest to smooth out the crowds early and late which is exactly what they are doing. For every one person complaining about their RD plan being destroyed there are 30 people going "thank god! Maybe this will even out the crowds in the afternoon!"

Disney is looking at the big picture of the 10,000 people there from 11-4, not the 200 people at RD.

Stacy

You've obviously never been there at rope drop, even on a projected low attendance day at any of the four parks there's a whole lot more than 200 people at rope drop. A whole lot more!

Yes but There is more people there...

There sure are. I think that this may be an interesting year and will be watching closely. I am glad that my trip is not until December. So far, I know how to navigate the events that take place then, and will be able to gather more information in regards to how these events will affect me, if at all.

i never said it was certain to happen but others have expressed that its certain not to happen.
personally i like to be prepared for the possibilities so that if it happens i'm not completely taken off guard.

I'm sure the breakfast that's offered is going to be a hectic experience, to say the least.

I can't imagine that anyone is going to pass on pre-drop ride time to eat, or even the hour after rope drop when crowds are still manageable, so everyone who's actually interested in getting the breakfast they paid for is going to flood the restaurant right before 10.

That fact, combined the early access being limited to just three rides, makes this a hard no for me.

It could be that Disney really wanted to charge $69 for 1 hour of the 3 ride access. But they threw in the continental breakfast, KNOWing guests will likely miss out--TOO crowded, NO tables during the mad rush right before 10-- OR even skip the breakfast part entirely!
They wanted to market it as an " experience " LIKE the After Dark Hours " Party ". $69, PLUS a reg tix, compared to the $149 for the ADH Party, which gives a guest 7-8 hours in MK without needing a reg. tix, would seem too expensive without adding food.

Perhaps Disney is expecting guests to DINE, miss OUT on their ride time window of exclusivity, AND thus book yet ANOTHER $69 breakfast, to ACTUALLY ride 7DMT exclusively, NEXT time.

Most amusement parks do a later time ticket at a lower price- and they sell very well. Disney is not creating something new here- they are just charging a higher rate than admission in stead of a lower one, for less hours.
For the morning hours- you can add on to your existing ticket..for a higher price, which probably means you will leave the park earlier as well..
There's a method behind the madness. :)

Especially if you have small children in your party who rise early, love Fantasyland and don't wait in long lines without a FP+ very well.

I've only read 10 pages so if this has been mentioned, forgive me, but I think a real issue with Money Magic Hours (MMH) is that it pretty much sets park opening times in stone. As we all know, Disney is (in)famous for extending park hours at late dates, opening earlier, closing later, and messing peoples' carefully made plans. If they've sold tickets to Money Magic Hours as an event starting at 7:45am, can they reasonably extend park opening hours from 9am to 8am, and consequently change Money Magic Hours to start at 6:45am? It's one thing for EMH to start earlier, as it's a "free" benefit that people will or will not arise early for, but MMH are not cheap, nor refundable; for a family of 4 it's about $240 (assuming 2 adults, 2 kids). Are you going to be happy paying this kind of money only to have the hours changed and discover you have to blast your family out of bed an hour earlier or lose $240?

Also, EMH WILL be effected. IIRC, there used to be several EMH days at MK; now we are down to one day a week. Fortunately, during peak crowd levels, Disney has had the flexibility of adding EMH days to spread out crowds and allow more people to experience MK. This isn't going to be an option if MMH are scheduled... and I can see them doing MMH on multiple days if it proves profitable. No way to add an EMH if there's a MMH already planned and paid for.

I think one poster WAY upthread said it best: It used to be that when at Disney World, I ALWAYS felt like a guest; now, it's clear that I am nothing more than a customer.

Is this a thing yet? I think it needs to be a thing. "Money Magic Hours" is awesome. "Morning MMH." "Evening MMH." :rotfl:

Have the dates for this event been posted? We are there soon and would like to avoid dates with this event.
TIA!

Actually I have. Several times. We choose to go in September with low crowds. We have not yet experienced a day where the 4 of us couldn't walk arm in arm down mainstreet without touching another human.

The only exception was '14 when we went to MNSSHP ON Halloween.

However, every keeps talking about how they love rope drop because there are so many fewer people. They love the fact that Main Street has very few people on it. Obviously not as good as a PPO ADR but still low.

So even if I'm off by 500 people then that still means that Disney is looking at the comfort of the other 20-40k people and not the 200 or 700 or 1,000 people that hit rope drop.
