So my husband and I have decided to take our boys to Disney during spring break.. A friend of mind is telling me that I am crazy because it is horrible there during this time... I would like some advice, tips, etc from those of you that have gone during spring break time.

We have only ever been in March, going again at the end of the month, and I think it's great. I have nothing to compare it to though. It has never felt overly busy to me and I've always been confused by the dire warnings about going at that time. The weather is great as well.

We went in April 2011 on April 7th for 10 nights. We had a great time but we were aware that the crowd levels would be mostly 8's & 9's. We went early in the morning and took things a little slower because we were there for a little longer time. The weather was perfect!!!

DH & DD could have ridden BTMRR & Splash multiple times during the night parade. We got kind of stuck back in that area. Trying to leave during the parade was very difficult.

If you know how to manage the parks and prepare for crowds, you can have a great time without it even being a factor. The keys are

1. Rope Drop
2. Midday breaks
3. Strategic park planning (avoid EMH)
4. Go with the flow

I know all about the weather as I live in South Florida :)... What is EMH by the way?

Extra Magic Hours. Just about every day one park opens early or stays open late for on-site guests only. Many park strategies advise avoiding these parks due to the higher influx of guests. Personally, we tend to go to the park that had the EMH the previous day. You can check park hours to see which days which park has EMH…if you're staying on site that is.

We are doing it a second year in a row. If you plan, you will be just fine. We do rope drop and have our day planned pretty well.

We have usually gone in early February and once on presidents week, that's school vacation for us here in maine. My wife and I will be there the 16th through the 21st. No kids this trip!!! I am a little worried about the crowds too, but we got a good deal on POP and airfair. I know disney usually only discounts when it's slow and on of the web sites I checked( cant remember which one now!!! Have been on so many the guy answering was named Dave! ) said because Easter is late this year he thought it wouldn't be as busy in march until the last week. Hope he is right! Hope all have a great trip and enjoy!!!

I feel so out of the loop her.. I know all about extra magic hours, just didn't know the abbreviation and I dont' know what rope drop is... Wow I have been going here for many many years LOL

Rope drop is when you are officially let loose in the park. Sometimes you are allowed to enter the park and then held at a rope until Cast Members are ready for guests to proceed toward rides and attractions. Rope drop is kind of a blanket term for when the park opens.
