Hello Ladies!

I never properly introduced myself. I'm Wendy. My DF proposed at the Magic Kingdom in front of Cinderella's Fountain on May 21st. We are planning an escape wedding at SBP for February 4, 2008. I lurk a lot and I've already posted some questions to a great response, which already makes me feel welcome! :grouphug:

Okay, so my latest question is...

I'm really intersted in the Kristy Kelly Disney gowns but there isn't a shop anywhere near me! The closest is one state over and 3+ hrs away. I can't imagine purchasing with out actually seeing in person first. I'm a full time student (yes, summer classes too :scared: ) who also works full time and now I'm planning a wedding. Do I try to block off time to make the insane drive. And if I do end up ordering from some far-away shop, do you think they'll ship directly to me? I have an amazing seamstress near my home that could handle any alterations. Also, can I find out exact pricing on specific dresses? Any input is greatly appreciated!

TIA,

Wendy

I had ordered my dress from a shop 3 hours away. They did ship it to my house. I forget if I paid for shipping or not (it was a long time ago). As for the pricing, I would call the shop to find out. I would also ask what dresses they have for you to try on. They may only have half of the collection at the time you can go, but I would definetly make the trip.

BTW Welcome to the boards. Can't wait to read your Planning Journal and TR's

Hi Wendy!
You can order your dress from anywhere because most places can ship directly to your home, if not the shop. As long as you have a GOOD seamstress near you that's the most important thing because he/she will be the one making sure the dress looks good on you up until the very week of the wedding (just in case your weight goes up or down).

I actually had gone down to the trunk show in Florida to see the Kirstie Kelly dresses. Those dresses were only actually there for the weekend and have been traveling all over. I was told they weren't even going to have all the samples made to be in all the other stores listed on the website until august. And there is no guarantee that a certain store would even carry the whole collection. So the store that is 3 hours away was it listed as a store that carries them or were they having a trunk show? I also would not recommend buying one before trying them on, they fit me a lot differently than other designers I had looked at. What dresses were you specifically interested in? The price range was very varied. For instance I tried on 2 Cinderella dresses and there was a price difference from 2,500 to 3,600 for the other. The last Sleeping beauty gown was the cheapest I tried on for 1,200. It really depends on the fabric, and details. I really felt they were expensive for what you got compared to other dresses.
