Disney Dream - Room 7650

I posted this months ago, but didn't get a conclusive response. I am booked on the Disney Dream in Room 7650 (Cat. 5C). I have read reports saying that it has an obstructed view due to some paneling that was added sometime (it affects about every 5 rooms or so). I read conflicting info as to how obstructed it is. Some say it only blocks about 9 inches. Others say it blocks a quarter of the view. How big a deal is it? Should I try to switch rooms? At the time, all of the other rooms available were near the elevator, which I wanted to avoid. The other rooms available now are all connecting rooms, which I also want to avoid. Any advice? Any pictures from this specific room? Thank you.

I can't speak to the Dream, but I was in 7650 on the Fantasy last fall.

The view is a tiny bit obstructed because of the decorative angle of the outer "skin" of the ship. I was a little miffed when I first saw it, but quickly appreciated that it gave us a little more feeling of privacy.

And I loved the location!

This is good information to know. I have 7650 reserved on the Fantasy for my May 2015 cruise. :thumbsup2

What bug me is that it seems that there are many rooms with even smaller obstructions that are downgraded to lower categories (6A or 7A), yet this room is still full priced. Why is that? Not saying that this is a major obstruction, but it still seems that there are some double standards regarding downgrading rooms due to obstructions. Or am I missing something. See this link, for example:

The changes with the staterooms mentioned that were recategorized were due to much more significant differences. Some rooms were actually upgraded, which isn't mentioned on that page. You can see pictures pointing these out on this thread. There is a big difference between a relatively narrow piece of steel versus some of the curved pieces on the staterooms affected. There are pictures of specific rooms throughout that thread as well. You can do a search in the thread for stateroom numbers to find pictures for specific rooms.

I have seen pictures (maybe on the Magic and Wonder?) of rooms that had basically no obstruction at all, but were downgraded to Cat. 7A. The link I sent you should have some pictures of this.

I should ask this question: if my wife and I are each sitting in a chair on the balcony, can we both see the ocean from this room? Or will one of us have a completely blocked view? That is not clear from the picture. Thank you.

Anyone have an answer? Thank you.

you will have a very nice view. Both of you will be able to see great! I had that exact room on a B2B in 2013 to celebrate the DW's 50th! I loved the location.

Yes I don't see why not. It's a slight obstruction as shown in the pics provided. I actually picked this cabin for my 9/2014 cruise and I'm not worried in the slightest. I love that it's aft, starboard, etc.

When are you cruising? Sorry if I missed it but I'll be happy to report back if I cruise before you do.

I had a great time on the Disney Dream!! Will post a review later. I can confirm that the obstruction was extremely minimal, and that my wife and I both had a clear view of the ocean. Also, this room is one of the very few non-connecting verandah rooms that is not next to an elevator, so it is probably the best choice if you want a verandah in a quiet location and don't need or want a connecting room.

Did you mean "Disney Dream"?
