Disney Dream - Prices

I was able to go online this morning and book the Dream for the 3 night sailing leaving Florida on Feb. 24th. We are a family of four--2A and 2C ages 15 and 12 at the time of sailing. Our price was $1404.68 without insurance or transportation.

We are sailing in less than two weeks on the Wonder, and our price for this sailing was $1395, so I thought the prices for the Dream were fantastic!

Now, I just have to go home and break all of this to my DH.:thumbsup We're already doing the Alaska sailing in July of that year on the Wonder. I just couldn't pass up the great prices and the chance to be among some of the first to sail on the new ship. I have issues.......:rotfl2:

I was originally looking at both those dates, and I thought the two were the same price.

Thats what I thougt so I told my TA to go with 05/29. I want to add a week of land afterwords and the first part of June is less crowded
I got a cat 11A deck 8, 2A 2C for $2804.00 w/ tranfers no Ins and the 10% off. So I thinking 05/29 is more sold out so prices went up.
It sure would of been nice to get a 9A for a cheaper price but oh well I had to give her a date and so I did.

CM tried to give me 5015 but I saw that was where the teen club was so I asked for another room - got one on deck 9 - hopefully much quieter.

CM also tried to give me 5015 for the 10/16 sailing and I didn't want it either :)
We booked 10/16, Cat 10A, 2A 2C, $1684 no ins or transfers :cool1:

When I was checking dates this morning for the 5 day, the lady told me 8/16 was the cheapest date available.

Why is Aug 16th sail $1100 cheaper then the Aug 7th sail? Both are 5 nights but the 16th has a at sea day before Nassau. Does it have to do with School or Hurricane season??

I booked 8/16 cat 8b, stateroom 9002 2 adults and 2kids for $3324

8/7 would have been $4544 with the same stateroom.

I believe it's because so many kids go back to school in August.

I save $970 switching from the 7th to the 16th!!!!

This school year I had to go back August 4th!! That is WAY too early!!! I thought the June five night cruises were priced well.

I believe you already answered your own question. :thumbsup2

Personally I think typical school schedules have much more effect on DCL pricing than weather patterns though.

FWIW
Atlantic hurricane season officially runs from June 1st until November 30th, with the peak August to October, and the absolute pinnacle early to mid September. This is as per The Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory.

I think the 8/16 cruise has been VERY popular with Dis-ers. Anyone know if prices on it have increased at all? Just curious.

I just checked, the Cat 6 I booked still appears to be the same price.

This 3 nt price is better than my March 2010 "kids sail free" price! With a bigger stateroom on a new ship.
Can't beat that with a stick! :thumbsup2

Booked June 7 Double Dip... 2 connecting 11B, Deck 7 for 2 adults, 3 kids (ages 10, 8, 6 then). $3650 total w/o transfers or insurance. Plus $100 OBC.

Also priced 1 Cat 8C (same cruise, same group). That would have been $3,950 for the one room for 5. I would have preferred the large porthole to an inside room, but opted to do the 2 inside rooms since the kids will be older and I'm sure space and privacy will be more of an issue than past cruises we've done (last time the oldest was only 6... this one she'll be a tween). 2 Cat 9B, would have been an additional $600+ over what we booked, and at the time we couldn't get 2 9B's connecting.

August 2, 2011 5th Family DCL Cruise 11th for Mom & Dad

Cat 10A 2A $1,056 $1,056
2A 1C (16) $1,056 $1,056 $856
2A 2C (4,2) $1,056 $1,056 $780 $476

We used points 1,207 42 point discount 1,165

Was upset about the low discount because we were told we'd get a 10% discount. They said they have to deal with DCL on discounts for each cruise.

Count down 629 days
