Hi friends! I noticed that Atlantis is no longer an available excursion on the 4-night Bahamian Cruises. We decided to book the Blue Lagoon day instead. Have any of you done this excursion before? What did you think of it? Was it worth it, or do you think it is better to just enjoy the empty ship? Thanks in advance for your help!

Is the Blue lagoon, the 4 hours thing with lunch on the beach? Beginning of Dec. I spoke with a family that did that. They had to as they had one kid who wasnt vaxxed and you need to be on DCL port thing to leave the ship then.. They said the beach was nice, ok. nothing special and were annoyed at the cost ( they usually do things on their own) and were peeved at the fact they HAD to do this per Bahamas rule to keep things in a bubble, but they found it odd how then they were mixed up with groups from 2 other cruiseships in port that day. So its a "port" bubble, not a DCL bubble. I was surprised how fast they got back. I ran into the parents in the adult sections like at 2 pm already.

lunch at castaway was better they said too. for me it's worth it if you have nice weather and you really want a beach day. Being a Bahama beach doesnt happen everyday for most. We stayed on the ship. as our cruise was a double dip CC anyways.

We found many families with little ones stayed on the boat. But that was before kids 5 and over had to be vaxxed. So any under 12 who werent needed to be on a DCL tour. I think especially as it was a double dip, many stayed on the ship.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, that is the excursion - 5 hours on an island with lunch! Our kids are all vaxxed. I didn’t even think of a “port/ship bubble”. I can see that making sense in today’s environment. I have the Blue Lagoon excursion booked, but was even considering a day pass at a nearby cruise port hotel. That most likely would not qualify as “in the bubble” though. I will check into this more. Thanks again!

Nassau day hasn’t been an “empty ship” in years. It is not a super popular port, and its biggest draw is Atlantis and that is not available. Plus on shorter Dream cruises people like to enjoy the ship.

I have not done Blue Lagoon personally, in part because on our first cruise our table mates gave it a bad review. Complaints were long travel time there and back, especially if you factor all the waiting onboard for the excursion to depart, and then they all got sunburned because there was not many shaded loungers and they were all claimwd before they got there. Can’t speak from firsthand experience though—just what I heard.

If everyone in your party is vaccinated you don’t need to book a ship excursion. You can go off on your own. The other poster was saying that the family had to book a DCL excursion due to the unvaccinated child and needing to stay within the “bubble” but that the family reported that theirs was not a very tight “bubble” (aka other cruise lines mixed in on the beach)

you may be able to book a day pass to Atlantis on your own and then cab to the resort as others have done

Atlantis excursion is available now! The only trouble is, it doesn’t look like there is any access to the water slides if you book through DCL. Only a small beach and a lazy river?

anyone have input as far as painting a picture of what the Blue Lagoon half day is like lately?(crowd-wise) Vs. just staying on the ship on a 4-day cruise.

(Never been on a cruise and never been to the Bahamas—family of 7onchild is 4 and unvaxxed)

I put some of our experience in the other thread too, but we were there in November, and the Disney crowd was limited to one beach with really shallow water. It was not crowded, there were plenty of open loungers, although the ones with umbrellas were gone quickly. Also, we were on the Magic, so it might be a bit more crowded with the Dream or Fantasy. We booked it for the dolphin encounter, I honestly wouldn’t have been happy if it was just a beach day, especially if you have kids who want to swim. The food options available were not great, and the beach we were limited to was not great.

Blue Lagoon huge disappointment! Recently took a Disney Cruise to Bahamas and the blue lagoon port adventure looked cool..$80. a person a little steep but lets try it
when we got to check in they told us that we'd have to stay in our covid bubble, could not explore the island and were confined to one beach! The excursion was to run from
8 30 to 1 30, but by the time you got to the island, a 30 minute double decker boat ride, which was cool, it was 10 and had to be back at the boat by 12 45!
once on the island we marched in heard to our "Beach" which as nothing more than a 100 yard, narrow stretch of water which looked like an inlet pond! In the interior of the island, not on the surf side. This was no beach in the bahamas you'd imagine...it reminded me of one of those total ripoff vacation scams where the pictures didnt portray reality. ..the Beach area wasnt bad but there was no surf of a typical beach you would imagine. Lunch was ok only one serving of either chicken, hamburger or hotdog. No diet drinks except for water. Which they ran out of....
There were plenty of other options on the island, dolphin enounter, water park, but could not access due to covid restrictions. Perhaps non pandemic this would of been cool, a lot more fun ....But until the restrictions are lifted do not book this excursion....we should of been told of the covid restrictions. Absolutely not worth the money....everyone was angry
