What a great way to celebrate! How many years? Hope Happymama3 can join you. I'm looking forward to the brunch on the morning after Pirate night. Might need a hair of the dog if you know what I mean.pirate:

Thanks again for handling the FE list. Last time, we met at the Rockin D bar at 3:00 and we all had a blast meeting each other. In fact, I'm going to Texas for my daughter's spring break and catching up with a mother/ daughter I met through the FE group. I made nametags and have plenty leftover if you would like to do something like that.

Oh, can you mention that my daughter has a dairy allergy next to her name on the FE list? Thanks!!

Thanks!!

It's 18 years ... In fact Happymama's husband was one of our groomsmen!

What does everyone think? Would you like to meet up at the Rockin D bar at 3 pm?

So can we add my sister to the FE Group. She is not on DIS and I can't imagine her signing up, but I know that her boys would enjoy the FE.

If it's ok, I'll just call her "mamamac2"

Mamamac2. 9086. 2 adults (M, F) and 3 boys (6 1/2, 9, 11 1/2)

And on the last updated list my daughters ages are wrong. One will be 6 1/2, the other 8.

WHOO HOO!!! I practiced with my first FE gift and it's a go!! Turned out super awesome. Of course I can't tell you what it is, but thank goodness for youtube!!!! Ahh...now to keep brainstorming for the kids....

Can't wait to see it!

I think I feel VERY overwhelmed. First cruise ever and there are posts about all kinds of things (FE, magnet trading, pirate night, etc.) and I can't keep anything straight! Starting to not enjoy looking forward to the trip because I feel I'm going to miss a lot of stuff :-( Any other first timers out there feel the same way? For instance, on FE, do I need to buy something to hang on my door and then make something for those in the group?

You have come to the right place. We are more than happy to share experience and lessons learned to help make your cruise more enjoyable!

For FE- most folks make them, but you might be able to find one on itsy? It kind of reminds me of a hanging shoe rack. Then you can make or buy little gifts for a somewhat "secret" exchange. I have seen all kinds of levels of creativity and anything is appreciated. Kids (and adults) love coming back to the cabin and finding stuff!

Hope you will join us on FE, but if not, you are still welcome to pepper is with questions!

I strongly recommend buying the Passporter guide to Disney Cruises and It's Ports of Call.
You don't have to be stressed out! In order to get the most out of your cruise, google your questions. For example, google fish extender. Then, google the images. You will see lots of examples and variations of a fish extender.

Google "Disney pirate night cruise "as well. You will see tons of pic's from families. Some dress as pirates, some don't. There's a pirate menu at the restaurant that night. Oh, and all of the waiters are dressed as pirates. There are fireworks at sea w/ an incredible pirate deck party for all to enjoy!

You can always ask us questions here! That's the best thing about Disney... everyone wants to have fun and help others have fun as well!

FYI... Disney loves guests to have magical experiences that are not expected. That's why they don't give all of the special event details up front.

Google is the word for the day!! pirate: Oh, our family dresses up as pirates!!

Going on my first cruise and Disney Cruise. Our honeymoon! How do you get in on fish extenders and learn more about them, how to do them, etc?

A simple explanation on the Fish Extender is that outside your cabin door, there is a metal fish that cruise staff leave mail, etc. A fish extender kind of reminds me of a hanging shoe rack, with small pockets and fun decorations. Ours has our family name on it and several pockets. When you join the group, you are signing up to make secret little gifts for each of the cabins participating and you also will receive gifts. The kids love to go and sneak around the ship to leave behind our gifts. Usually you do one gift per cabin, but some people like to do specific gifts for kids or adults. There are some wonderfully crafty people out there, but you don't have to be crafty to participate. We have given gifts that reflect our home town, while we have received a wide variety of items. On our last cruise just a sampling - a homemade Disney cruise line recipe book, a journal, magnets, a cloth bag printed with cruise name and date, a neat paper lantern from singapore, etc. it's a lot of fun and the kids loved coming back to the cabin and seeing what had been left behind.

Where can you get FE measurements - ideal for how it should look for gifts you are giving vs. gifts people leave for you?

I've found a ton of ideas on the "Homemade FE Gifts Photo Thread" in the Disney Cruise Line forum here (tried to post a link, but it won't let me) :confused3. I believe I read that the finished product should be 8" wide... But we are newbies, so if someone else tells you differently - go with what they say!!!

I think I've finally decided what mine are going to be. Going to get the supplies this weekend to test them out!!! *fingers crossed*

My fiance and I know what we want to do, and are excited about it, but how many total items do we need? Do you normally put them all in another plastic bag within that pouch? Do you need to put a note of any kind that it's just for those participating in the fish extenders? Wonder if others come by to look and take one out even if they are not participating?

About 1 month before the cruise, the organizer will close the FE group to new members. then, we will get a list of all those who are participating. That list will give you the names, cabin numbers, age of children, etc. It's hard to predict how many ill be on the list. Last cruise we had 20 or so join 2 months before the sail date. We had so many, that we split the group up and we each had 30 cabins.

You will pick a day that's good for you to pass out your goodies. Then, you go to each cabin and place them in their FE pockets hanging by their doors. Lots of people wonder what in the world we are doing and get a real joy out of it. My daughter would run down the hallway to our room just to see what goodies we had in our pockets. I had only heard of one family that had their gifts stolen by some teenagers across the hallway. Many of our gifts had the names of the givers on them. I have an FE board on Pinterest that you may like to look at. It has gift ideas, FE holders, and past Fe gifts that we received. hope this helps!

That is super helpful! Thanks for the note!

** Important ** in case I missed it: How do you join the FE group officially? I posted my info on here in an earlier post. Is there a Facebook group or link I need to click through to add us to the list? So excited!
